I don't think it is a coincidence that Frazier played with Russell, and Holmes has played with Clarkson (as has jabari brown). |

I love how long Holmes keeps his follow-through up well after he shoots.
I'd wish Jules would start doing that more consistently.
It really helps. _________________ Everything. Changes. |

Both of these young guys are good shooters and both have some athleticism. Camp is going to be really competitive.
I hope both at least make the Defenders squad if they don't make the Lakers. |

I honestly think that's the plan. They lakers just drafted two comparable players in nance and brown. I don't see these two making the squad but they may be prospects the lakers may want down the road like Jabari brown. |

At the same it I find his release a bit low and a bit slow. We'll see in preseason how well he can get his shot off against some athletic defenders.
What I like most about all the youngsters we have, they seem all to be hard workers. It even goes back to some older ones we have - Sacre, Kelly. All have good work ethic. That is absolutely essential for success, for team spirit. The right attitude. _________________ .

Lakers responsible for injured forward Jonathan Holmes' rookie salary
Quote: | Free-agent forward Jonathan Holmes underwent shoulder surgery Friday for a torn labrum, according to his agent, Zach Kurtin.
Holmes, who went through training camp with the Lakers, was injured during an exhibition game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 19.
The Lakers signed the undrafted Texas senior to a $525,093 rookie minimum contract, but only $100,000 of his salary was guaranteed.
Holmes is projected to be out for the next five months, fully healed by the time NBA summer leagues open in July.
By league rules, the Lakers are responsible for Holmes' entire $525,093 waived salary.
If a player is cut while injured, the team is required to pay the salary until the player is healthy.

Teams can sign players with a clause to protect the franchise from such an injury obligation, but only possible if the player receives no financial guarantee.
In the case of Holmes, almost 20% of his total contract was promised by the Lakers when he signed.

Damn...that injury may be the best thing that ever happened to him.
Next season he will still be a rookie, right? I think he will make the lakers roster too. |

It's like workers comp. He hustled his ass off on that play which resulted in the injury.
I think he has promise. Let's hope he takes his game to a new level come next summer. |

Seriously, if you walked into your workplace tomorrow, and your boss said I want you to take the next 8 months off, and I will pay you, plus add on a bonus equal to 4x your annual salary.....the only catch is you must have moderately invasive shoulder surgery.
I think a lot of people think it over and ask what hospital to report to. I am not saying he wanted to have surgery, but I doubt he said "No Doc, I think it's all good". Big difference between $100K and $500K. He only played in like 2 Quarters total in camp, right? Hope he recovers, and glad he got a pay check, and hope he is able to find a place to give basketball another shot. |

I'm just happy that his hustle play ended up yielding some good karma his way. _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |
