Madsen is just a goofie dude (who I believe is really smart).

Luke kind of fits that Lakers coach profile. Smooth operator.

Some names I'd love to hear that we're considering:

Joe Prunty
Kenny Atkinson
Becky Hammon
Tyronn Lue

True true. I'd still like to keep Madsen around as an assistant since he has a rapport with the players.

I like the Becky Hammon and Tyronn Lue suggestions as well

Haven't given up hope on Scott.

I realize it is not a popular opinion but I think Scott can be a very good HC for the Lakers. Still think he has some of the intangibles to get a young team to believe in itself and develop into a competitive team.

Going to be interesting to see how many of the same negatives continue to go against him with a revamped roster. Much will b revealed by the progress or failures of this season.

IMO he should get at least a couple more seasons to build the team.

I don't really think Hammon would be a smart fit for both parties. If she coaches us to a losing record her first year, I could see the media criticizing her and pulling some (bleep) spin that women aren't ready to be coaches.

Really, really bad reason not to hire someone.

We saw how quickly the media turned against Mike Brown and D'Antoni. It may have been deserved, but the media was one of the main reasons both of those guys were pushed out. Hell the only reason why Byron hasn't received that much scrutiny is because he has past affiliations with the Lakers.

The media turns on the team when we lose. What you're suggesting is that (in the event we think she's the best person for the job) we not hire her because she's a woman and may get more media flak. Really, really bad reason.

In fact, I believe Byron was hired in part because of his friendly relationship with the media. We've seen how well that has turned out. He has basically been protected by old media and been made a laughing stock by new media. The next coach should be hired because they're the best person for the job, not because we'd like favorable coverage on First Take.

Tom Thibodeau (with a strong offensive assistant coach)

Rick Carlisle (who's contract is up next summer)

Jeff Van Gundy

Darkhorses:

Ettore Messina

Chip Engelland

If she's the best person for the job, we should definitely do it. Either way, whether we win or lose a lot, the media would be a circus if Hammon were a coach in LA

I think Tyronne is a good candidate too.

David Fizdale (asst. from Miami) is someone I like too.

But seriously though, I'd like Walton or Madsen if he's ready. I hear you, Yinoma, about the goofiness though. How about Rick Fox as a dark horse?
