Reading comprehension.

Russell didn't say McGrady IS the goat. He said "might have been" like could've been.

Honestly Tracy McGrady might have been the GOAT!

"that might haven been the best cake cake I have ever eaten" meaning that cake is either the best cake I have ever eaten or its seriously in the running for the best. So when you say McGrady might have been the best it means he either was the best or a serious contender, and that is a laughable opinion.

Not how I took it. I took it as he "might have been" as in "could have been" if things had been different....like he "had the potential to be" the GOAT.

If you have to rephrase a statement that many times to take it that way either he did an awful job with his statement or you are taking it the wrong way.

Or he's seeing the statement from a different vantage point.

As for talent wise and skill wise, T-MAC actually on top of that, Dloading just said the GOAT, he didn't say which part.

Except a lot of players were more talented than McGrady.

T-Mac at his peak was one of the best players in the league with players such as Kobe, Shaq, A.I., Duncan, and KG...

You seem to be going out of your way to make this an issue. You can take a sentence to mean a lot of different things based on context. Language is funny like that. It's not a big deal.

You guys it's just kobeandgary, President of the Okafor / Anti-Russell fan club.

If Russell says water is wet or that the earth revolves around the sun, kobeandgary will just make up reasons to try and disprove it.

Just don't take him seriously when it comes to Russell.

McGrady was more goat than GOAT. only time he ever made it out of the first round was after he couldn't play anymore due to age and injuries, sitting on the bench for a Spurs team that basically never played him. Credentials for GOAT status vary wildly from person to person, but one requirement I think most would agree on is that a guy needs to be able to lead his team out of the first round at least once without coat tailing.

Mcgrady is top 5 in potential of all time imo

Wilt, shaq, lebron, mcgrady and magic

No one has his combination of magical ball handling, elite passing skills, elite shooting, genius creativity and absurd length and athleticism combo. Players like durant has no business being compared to him.

Too bad he didnt have the fire and health.. shame.

Wouldn't say McGrady had magical ball handling or elite passing and shooting, he was a good ball handler and good shooter. He was a bad defender and didn't have much of a post game either. McGrady was a fantastic player, but it's not like Kevin Durant couldn't light him up or anything.

You're the one trying to twist his words. It was pretty clear what he meant when he said "might have been". As in, if things had played out differently during his career he might have been in the conversation.

Why is Kobe tweeting? Where is his work ethic? What is he, 19? Next thing you know, he'll be doing imitations of other players or something.

Disgrace.

of course, all these rephrasing is a setup for things like "Smush Parker might have been GOAT" be totally acceptable...

but, going with the trend of rephrasing sentences, "might have been GOAT" was actually said to mean "maybe GOAT"... which as you said is a truly poor sense of history. never mind the countless of others who were actually able to achieve more than be a 1st round playoffs dropout like TMac was...

Once again when I say "that might have been the best cake ever" that means either it was the best cake ever or a serious contender for it.

When I say "that might been the best cake ever if the Baker wasn't sick and worked harder that means the cake would have been the best if circumstances worked out differently.

I'm not twisting his words at all, there is no other way to take what he said other then he is saying McGrady is the greatest or very serious contender to be. If that isn't what he meant then he should probably word things better.

I really don't remember McGrady lighting the Lakers up or really ever beating the Lakers when he was in Orlando, I think McGrady was a phenomenal player, but not in the conversation of greatest all time.

Twitter is stream of consciousness rambling. Not official statements where you carefully choose your words.
