This is funny all around to me. Glad we don't have Phil in our FO. Thank you Dr. Buss.

Why would be even say that? What was Phil's intention by even saying that? Phil Jackson is slowly growing as the worst team President in NBA history... He says & does some dumb ass things.

Eh sometimes it is also luck of the lottery balls. Phil inherited a horrible team. Lakers/Sixers lucked out and jumped in front of the Knicks in the draft when there was a clear top 3 players available. Not saying Phil is doing a good job, but the narrative might have been different right now if Knicks didn't drop in the Draft. Or just dropped 1 slot instead of 2.

Phil and Fish have been there for 1 season.
They inherited a directionless franchise.
Too soon to say it's a failure.

Meh. He's been doing that through his various mouth pieces for the last twenty or so years, the difference now is that he's not coaching and it's unknown how the rookie will take it. If KP's motivated, this may light a fire under him to reach another level. If It backfires, maybe he will indeed turn out to be a Shawn "deathstick" Bradley 2.0.

It usually goes something like this:
1) Say something negative about x player
2) Media amplifies the negativity tenfold with questions about "what Phil said" when said player is interviewed
3) Player gets extremely tired of the negativity and doubt brought on by the criticism. Player works to address it and usually comes through
4) rinse and repeat

Sometimes it works, when Phil arrived, he said that he didn't expect the '99-'00 Lakers to start out well because of the learning curve. They proved him wrong. Robert Horry hated Phil's media message mind games, so he told him to cut out that (bleep) and talk to him like a man. Phil respected that and looked for a new target.

Knicks fans can only tolerate this for so long. If there is no improvement, Phil and Rambis will be bumming around in Manhattan Beach by next summer.

I imagine we'll be hearing this refrain for at least another few seasons.

Rebuilds take time. Us lakers fans know that.

That's a fair point, and the final judgment will come later. But in the interim, you can judge moves based on how they contribute to rebuilding. The chandler trade, for example, was a rookie getting fleeced, as was holding onto smith and shumpert well past when value could be extracted.

An 8 part ESPN column trashing most of his players and absolving himself from blame probably wasn't that smart either.

11 Rings, 5 of which are ours! He's had enough success throughout the years to deserve some patience when it comes to rebuilding. He inherited a mess!

Are we sure it's only 8 parts at this point?

Well....Phillip gets his chance to prove his naysayers wrong that he can only work with teams ready to go. If he gets a winner out of this stinkload, then he really is a genius! If not, he is the frontrunner his haters all thought he was.

Bye.

I'm a Phil fan, but even I can admit. He's narcissistic and pretentious.
No way that's the last one.

If you read the whole article, he was mostly praising Porzingis and his potential. Media trying to drum up controversy.

It still puzzles me that PJ has to be above any criticism becaue HIS TEAMS won 8 championships.
I quote Terry Porter once: "I'd like to see all than Zen stuff working with the Clippers".

For as great of a coach Phil Jackson is, he didn't build any of his championship squads. I don't think FA's are clamoring to go to the Knicks especially with the way Phil continuously throws his players under the bus.
