Historic playoff run. 15-1. Kobe and Shaq emerge as two of the best players in the league and the most dominant duo. Arguably the best championship team ever.
Should be very fun to play. Gonna drop 26 points with Mike Penberthy!
That year brings back some heavy nostalgia... I was in a middle school filled with Laker haters (Maryland) and most people thought the Sixers were going to win the series after that first fluke of a game. The Lord of the Rings movie also came out later that year. Fun times...

First time I'll be buying 2K since 2K11
Have you been playing NBA Live the last 4 years? Or have you been watching NBA and having a life? _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

2K sports always epically screws up the roster. Usually lucky to have the top 8 guys on the team. Lue may not even make it.
The '97-'98 Lakers roster on the last couple 2K games is atrocious. Kobe only started one game for the Lakers that year and yet he and Eddie Jones are at the 2-3. Eddie was smaller than Kobe.
Pre-ordered mine and this makes me even more excited.
Last one I bought is 2K13 - I was excited then about Nash and Dwight. This time, I'm looking forward to Russell, Clarkson, and Randle.
I had the Lakers winning the Finals in that one. But I had to fire Mike Brown and insert a roster hack of Phil Jackson (except he had the glitched Michael Jackson glove hands and head would sometimes disappear).
He was just setting an example on how to set aside egos. Classic Phil.
2001 Shaq needs to have a 99. 2001 Kobe is a 98. Should be a fun team. Hopefully they'll include the 2001 Spurs as well so they can play the Washington Generals role.
I remember during the playoffs, reading a sports forum topic asking, "will the Lakers ever lose again?" It feels like it was just a few years ago... but nope, they're a "classic" team now. Time flies. _________________ -Avenue of the Champions- -RIP Dr Buss- #824

I've played 2K since Iverson was on the Cover. I haven't played a Live since the game they put Jordan in. NBA Live 2000 was the last NBA Live game I ever played. The one that had Jordan on the main game screen just shooting around. And also THE BEST SOUNDTRACK ON ANY BASKETBALL GAME EVER BAR NONE!!! BAR NONE!!!! NBA Live 2000 will always have that.
But yeah that's the last Live game I played. I've pretty much been 2K since 2K2 with AI on the cover and got every one since except 2K9 I believe.
But I truly hope Live does make it competitive this year so 2K can improve stuff that's more than stuff they could fix in a patch or spend an entire year creating stuff for a new game that's pretty much a "DLC" to the previous year's game.
Anyway it's about freaking time they put the 2001 Lakers as a Legends team.
I am still freaking waiting for Kareem to be back in the game as well as Chris Webber. It's an insult to have the 81-87 Lakers as Legends teams and NOT have Kareem on them...
Seeing a blank name next to "NBA ALL TIME SCORING LEADER" is really annoying.
Anyway, glad I'll be able to run that 2001 team against the current Warriors and watch what Shaq does to their 'small ball'.
Agreed with the ratings system, Shaq should be a 99 and "One of a Kind" stature and Kobe should be a 98. There's no excuse for it to be any other way.

Then they better put the 08-10 Lakers in there as well. _________________ *sighs*
