Lakers are seriously considering signing free agent Metta World Peace, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. For now, there's no deal in place.

I wouldn't mind bringing him to training camp. It would be nice to have another veteran leader besides Kobe.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Well, Lakers need a wing defender, need a veteran and knows the Princeton Offense so why not? Kobe's gotta have another guy that he can trust that'll light a fire under their butt's.

But the young heads needs mix it up with vet's. Kobe can't be the only guy handling the kids.

He has been working out with Randle this summer so he should be in pretty good shape.

Varying degrees of interest within Lakers organization on bringing back World Peace, but he's under consideration. Story soon on Yahoo.

This would indicate bringing Russell along slowly (with Kobe starting the season at two.

I won't mind to bring back Artest. He might help the young players improve their defense.

Why the hell not. We don't really need Clarkson or Russell running the fastbreak. Why would we want that when we could have the Metta Train, running full head of steam into a foot dribble, an obvious charge or a bricked layup.

Actually.

I think I want him back. For some strange reason that I can't explain, I kinda miss watching those plays. I mean we all knew how they would end as soon as he set sails, but they were entertaining in a way. I think I could use some of that entertainment. So yeah, bring him back.

The Los Angeles Lakers are discussing the possibility of signing free agent forward Metta World Peace to a one-year contract, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

No deal has been agreed upon, but there have been talks between the Lakers and World Peace's representatives, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
There are varying degrees of interest within the Lakers organization about bringing him back to the franchise at 35 years old, but World Peace has been in the Lakers' practice facility this offseason playing against the team's players, including 2014 first-round pick Julius Randle, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

World Peace has been out of the NBA since the New York Knicks waived him during the 2013-14 season. He played last season in China and Italy.

The Lakers are short depth at the small forward position.

World Peace played four seasons with the Lakers from 2009-13 and was instrumental in them winning the 2010 championship. They amnestied World Peace after the 2012-13 season.

One year on a vets minimum deal, he'd basically be there to work with guys like Brown and Nance on their defense. I'd welcome it personally.

Or to get more forward depth in general.

I'm fine with bringing him in to work with certain players. But to play? Like play basketball? Heavens no. He's been washed up for years.

I wouldn't call that depth.
