If we sign him someone like Kelly would probably have to go. Bring him aboard. Do it Mitch! |

I'm not sure how functional he'd be at any position at this point, but anything other than playing him at PF is a terrible idea. |

Or to get more forward depth in general. |
I wouldn't call that depth. |

The new head of the snake. Shows even more grit and toughness than Ronnie Price. Byron will play him 40+ minutes, no doubt. |

So it indicates we're bringing Randle along slowly? Not being sarcastic.
Honestly, I'm wondering. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

lol teams don't even guard metta when he's on the court, at least Byron won't let him take 10 3's a game like dantoni. |

He wouldn't see the court. His sole contribution would be coaching the kids. |

It doesn't indicate bringing anyone along slowly. It indicates how weak our roster is that we'd even be able to find a place for someone that literally not a single other team would even consider.
That said, it's not a bad move given what we have. We have no leadership outside Kobe and even he is hardly a locker room guy. Metta would be a nice addition to the locker room. Greatly respected, high IQ, ideal teammate, and brings a certain level of work ethic and intensity that very few in NBA history have.
If nothing else, he'd really help instill a sense of "mean" into guys like Randle. Call it a teacher position. |

I'm hoping that the point would be to provide a positive locker room influence and be a 3rd string player, behind Randle & Bass.
Strange world we live in when you're looking to Ron Artest to be a locker room presence and sage. |

Interesting! I like this kind of old style players. Wonder he would be a player or trainer. |

I don't think Metta would be starting.
Of course Byron probably would make it so.
I think Metta would be a body, he'd also be someone working with the young guys on their defense. Guys like Randle, Nance Jr and Brown would benefit tremendously from Metta working with them. In essence that is why they brought in Boozer last year, to work with Randle. Metta would be brought in to work with Larry, Brown and Randle most likely. |

I'm all for it, TBH. I definitely wouldn't expect him to contribute too much, as he hasn't played in the NBA in over a year, as well as the fact that he's getting up there in age, but he'd cost us practically nothing, and signing him would give us another battle tested veteran with the familiarity of playing for this franchise. What the hell, why not?
I never really wanted him amnestied in the first place. Do it Mitch!!

when has Woj ever been correct about a Lakers story? We're the one franchise he has no connections in and can never break stories on. |

Believe it or not Metta/Panda may be able to motivate and guide Roy Hibbertt through his issues or at least point him in the right direction. |

Credit to him, though, for making that 180 turn in his life. (I'd rather he be a coach, though).
Also wonder if they are thinking this would help Hibbert, too. |

I'd be happy to have him around. It's too bad we have a bit of glut though in the roster. Signing him means we are out of spots assuming black, jbrown are back? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
