This is being way overblown. It comes down to this: Would you rather have Wesley Johnson or Henry as the 11th-12th player on the squad or Metta? Metta can pass down wisdom and help mentor these kids (which is an off thing to say tbh )

Even though he's not that good the youngs would still respect him and look at him as a champion. He still looks like he'll leave it all on the floor even for a team that's not championship caliber. If the youngsters see this old man hustling and giving it all he has they'll follow. Plus didn't Roy Hibbert say Metta helped him with his mental health problem or something? So there's that.
It would be beneficial to our young guys to experience first hand what it's like to have a guy on your team that the opponents fear. He's physical and doesn't back down to anyone. Playing next to a guy like that could do wonders for these kids. _________________ Maybe you think it's completely innocent. Maybe you don't. MWP is the perfect 4 in this new NBA. What can David West do the Metta can't? He's a bulldozer down low. MWP is not a three, that was made painfully obvious when he was with the Lakers. He just doesnt have a consistent stroke from the perimeter. But down low? I'll take MWP over most 2nd string 4's in the league. Plus you know he'll put the clamps on you on the other end. The only problem is the 4 is the one position where the Lakers are log jammed at

Can Metta World Peace
+ Rebuild the Lakers' Legacy/Brand - Yes
+ Play defense - Yes
+ Show leadership - Yes
+ Play the 3 - Yes
+ Someone Kobe trusts - Yes
+ Somebody that Scott will go "To War" with - Yes
+ Show "Veteranism" (Robert Horry word) - Yes
+ Display toughness - Yes
+ Be a great example of professionalism and how to win - Yes
+ Will not be expensive - Yes
+ Doesn't need to play that many minutes - Yes
+ Be one of the rare post-up players - Yes
+ Keep Upshaw in line, if Upshaw is on the roster - Yes
+ Great practice player that will push the rookies - Yes
Since the Lakers are not among teams like the Spurs, Warriors and Cavs - this is another step back to the world of being a championship caliber team
i'd sign him for the vet min (low risk, appears to be in good shape, can mentor some of our younger players, etc.)
I'm down with Metta being signed at the vet minimum, but the Drew league isn't a good indicator of if a play still has it. There are guys who have been out of the league for the past five years that could light up the Drew league. hell Steve Nash could probably dominate the Drew league right now.
I'd like for him to join the team to play a few minutes per game, give Kobe another veteran to hang with, and for epic post game interviews. _________________ LeBron, AD, & _________. Stay tuned.

Make it so Mitch!
Welcome back MWP! I think he would be a great fit for this team of youngsters. We are weak on D and that is MWP's calling card. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss
