If someone is still angry at Shaq then how does that person feel about Howard?

I don't blame Howard from wanting to leave this Laker teams situation. Until Jim Buss proves he can produce it going to be very hard to get "so called " elite talent to play for the Lakers. This coming season holds the key to the Lakers foreseeable future.

Howard leaving and Kobe ultimately retiring is what this team needed.

All teams have highs and lows.

This is our low period.

Sooner we get through this the sooner we get back to winning as usual.

Shaq actually cost the team a couple rings from the bs and not being up to his full potential.

Likable guy on camera, who knows off?

Bye.

It's Shaq fans who can't get over their hatred for Kobe Bryant.

I was thinking more along the lines of Howard being a huge disappointment in LA. At least with Shaq the team won a playoff game and much more.

Shaq went well out of his way to make Kobe assured that he's passed their past and the new perspective is one of an optimistic & fresh start.

Glad Shaq orchestrated that. Especially glad they let us all in on it.

I've always liked the 3 rings the two of them got us.

But Dr. Buss correctly picked Bryant over Shaq. You do that 101 out of 100 times.

yup

should have been 4 rings, and everyone likes to blame the players, but it wasn't. it was the refs, plain and simple. even with malone injured. ugh.

After hearing the latest gossip, I have softened a little on Shaq, yes, it must be harder for a huge man to maintain his shape vs a littler guy. Still, it was part mental also. Same with free throws, mental. But, he is right...he does hit them when it counts, he really does.

They just took that Pistons team way too lightly. Like they were the nets or sixers. By the time they figured it out they were in Detroit for 3 straight down 0-2.

The one in Boston will always sting, but Kobe has 8 if he and shaq could have learned to play nice.

They were tied with Detroit 1-1 before going on the road. Lakers won game 2 in OT which probably made them take the Pistons even more lightly. But you are right that they got behind in that series and were stuck in Detroit. It's disgusting that they couldn't steal even 1 game on the road and bring it back to LA.

They scored under 70 points in one game, only time in the LA era of the franchise a Laker team did that, RS or playoffs.

The games in Det were disgusting. 15-20 FT advantage for the home team will almost be a sure loss for the visitor. Love your avi. I consider that in Kobe's top 5 dunks in traffic

The Lakers valued Howard as deserving of max pay that's what they offered him, that's why I used "so called superstar " in my evaluation. As far as Howard being a huge disappointment that should be evaluated by his current team.

I actually don't think Shaq and Kobe left any championships on the table. They always say that's it's better to trade a player 1 year too early than 1 year too late. Well, in Shaq's case, the Lakers traded him 1 year early, but I think it was all for the better. I didn't necessarily like the loot they got for him, but Odom did help with the next two championships and some of the pieces were used to get Pau Gasol as well. The one championship they did leave on the table was vs the Pistons...but that was sort of bad luck because Karl Malone got hurt and didn't play in the finals.

I actually agree with this. I actually lobbied for LA to trade Gasol after winning the title in 2010, which was kind of preposterous at the time? Pau's value was at an all time high though and the team was getting old at that point.

You know guys I am not sure about the officiating in the 2004 finals. I honestly dont remember. I do remember us being really good offensively, but I always felt that whole season we lacked defensive intensity. Imo it reared it's ugly head in the 2004 finals.

That said, as the the loyalest of Laker fans, I thought the refs were kind to us in the 4th quarter of game seven 2010 NBA finals. That whole series was a slobber knocker, but for some reason in the 4th quarter of game seven it was a freethrow parade for us. Still I am just happy we won.

I'm certainly glad that Shaq became a Laker, three in a row is a huge accomplishment no matter what circumstances prevailed. Take the good with the not so good and move on. Shaq and Kobe won together and also proved they could win apart, that made them both all time great players and all time great Lakers, end of story. Thanks Shaq and Kobe for the Lakers championships.

Exactly, they got together and did great things. But it had run its course, and they were both able to succeed without each other. Nothing to regret unless one thinks that 3 titles in 3 consecutive seasons is something that is easy to do. They were one of the greatest duos of all time.

Shaq was a dominant alpha player who wanted to do what it took to win. Howard is a clown who just wants to have fun and then blame others when he doesn't win. Again. And again. And again.

He tried extending Shaq, getting rid of him wasn't on his mind until they couldn't reach an agreement. Good to see Shaq confirm Dr. Buss' statements that trading Shaq was something that was agreed upon during that last season.

Haha. The feud was 10 years prior to his join date.
