A little of both. But that Warriors series was an outlier. They (he) chose to go down on his own terms, which was some of the worst basketball I've ever seen. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Younger Pippen maybe, but I don't have as much confidence with the Pippen that started breaking down when he hit his 30s. |
I'd still take it. Age 33 he was playing 40mpg. Age 34 he wasn't exactly All D 1st, but neither is Iguodala.
I think we're talking about a regressed LeBron, a regressed Iguodala, and a slightly declining Pippen until he hit 2nd year in Portland.
A younger Pippen would have contained prime LeBron. I really believe that. Gone would be that 55% FG that LeBron had for years, because he could actually change direction off the dribble. Pippen had defended PG through C at All D 1st level for multiple years. Can't just replace that IQ, base, wingspan, hands, feet as easily, even if he got a bit slower. Size/IQ still remain. |
Agreed. Pippen would be the counter pick to LeBron if you're making an all time fantasy team or something |

He only really looked bad at the first part of last season. And then he took his suspicious mini-vacation and then regained 5 inches on his vertical. |

Excluding Kobe this upcoming season.
Who will be the next Laker all star and in what year will they get it?
Wondering what everyone's guesses are.
Clarkson in 2017?
DLo or Randle in 2018?
Derozan or Horford in 2017?
Obscure high schooler we don't even know exists now in 2020? _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Clarkson shows the most upside so I would give it to him. I am hoping this year he fully blossoms into an All-Star
The others are just "not enough information."
Of course, maybe it will be KD instead _________________ Ahhhh, those were the days...time for a new beginning! |

I've found out that the 2012-13 Charlotte Bobcats had a 21-61 record, and then they finished the next season at 43-39.
Although both come from two different conferences but I still see hope that the Lakers can do the same like them. |

I'm with you in hoping, but the Bobcats benefited from a good coaching change. |

My excitement for the lakers deflates a little every time I hear the names Byron Scott and Robert scare
Other than that looking forward to this season. Go lakers!!! |

I prefer to hope (fantasize) the Lakers can follow the example of the 2001-2002 Nets w/Scott as HC. Went from 26 wins to 52 wins. From near the bottom defensively to 1st in Def rating.
I realize this is highly unlikely but it is still the pre-season, I can dream.
Plus I like the moves the Lakers have made so far. Optimistically, Lakers potentially could be better then expected. But the West is so deep with good teams it is ridiculous. |

What I hate most is when the season is over after the first week. You find out that the Lakers suck and have absolutely no chance. |

I have two expectations of the season:
The team being more competitive and actually looking to win games.
Rooting for the young guys to develop and show something. |

I'm savoring the fact that the Lakers currently have the same record as last years champions....
You won't be able to say that come December... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

Kobe will have a good season not great and will ride off into sunset injury free while leading young guns to being respectable team again. |
