How is being a garbage man ranked higher than police or fireman? Lots of people falling into the back of the truck and being crushed?

The high number of deaths can be attributed partly to impatient drivers, who try to pass stopped garbage collection vehicles and end up hitting collectors.

Not any more. Drivers don't have to get out of the truck. They use mechanical arms. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Unfortunately, the majority of the country has yet to convert to Automated Collection Trucks. There are only a few major cities that have made the conversions. Most large cities, and rural areas, still use manually loaded trucks, either directly into the rear bin, or into a front loaded bin that's hoisted over the top and into the compactor when full. _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. Like the one that sprung loose and ripped into a school bus a few years ago?
But police officers are the ones who get off the hook because their job is dangerous and stressful. Oh, and we're expected to sympathize for them too.
The deification of Police is a uniquely American syndrome. Most societies respect their police, but they don't put them up on near the pedestal as Americans do. I don't know of another non-corrupt nation that would put up with police killing citizens at the rate American police do and then excuse the behaviour as consistently as Americans do. I think it's a holdover from the Wild Wild West days.
(The way Americans celebrate Outlaw Police and Gangsters from that era <who were often one and of the same> is also truly strange. Many parent s wouldn't think twice about letting their kid dress up as Jesse James for Halloween, or as a 1920's gangster - but if the kid wanted to dress up as a Crip or Blood, then that's off limits. It's all just so bizarre.) _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. A Streetwise Smart Bomb, Out of rehab and In denial. I know loggers up north and they do some crazy (bleep).
Ain't that the truth. And those logging trucks on logging roads driving them like sportscars is a truly hair raising experience when one of em surprises you coming around a blind corner. When I lived in Central BC, logging deaths were a regular fixture in the local papers. _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. I was under the impression that being a mother was the most difficult job in the world
Yep.

I think so... I give them props for them being there for small business owners whenever the business has to dial 911 to kick out customer because they refuse to leave the establishment without some type of compensation.
