Put yourself in Durants shoes. Personally if i was him my destination would be New Orleans. I would ask Conley to come along too. Conley/Durant/Davis would win a championship I think.

Looks like they have 63m in guarantees. That's without Anderson, Gordon who are their 6th men and starting SG. They could afford Durant but that's it.

Yeah I wasnt sure about that

Still A savvy FO might be able to make some trades and make some space?

Seriously though, this is one of the major reasons I am a Cousins supporter, we need that kind of talent by next offseason to have a shot at Durant. I just dont see it developing like that

I never thought we had the assets and I firmly believe most of this was coming from his camp and not the Kings. They still like him.

Lebron's never joined a contending team. He makes them a contending team. I think Durant is more of that mindset than a player like LMA.

this is so false its not even funny.

adding lebron to core of DWade + Bosh made them contending team.

Adding lebron to Irving + love made them contending team. u think love trade was not agreed upon before lebron signed? lol

Lebron went to a core of Wade and then Irving. He was the one who made both teams championship worthy. Let's not embellish to make a point.

I am not sure about Durant, but that would be my choice. I love NO.

It would make more of an impact if Kobe went into the meeting as a retired player.

Bingo.

I agree. His mere presence though, hopefully as a retired player, in this case I think would actually be positive since he respects kobe.

Which coach would be KD's "guy?" (assuming Donovan doesn't work out...though I think he will).

Ollie? Not sure he's leaving UCONN just yet.

Will Lakers look at Thibideaou? Doesn't seem like a KD guy.

Which KD buddies are free agents next year that he can team up with? I'm unaware of anyone on the 2016 FA group that meets that.

I can't think of an example of a major FA "choosing" his coach as he joins a new team. I think it's too much pressure on the player. A good coach should already be in place. I don't know if Byron's presence is a turn-off exactly to Durant or someone like him, but I don't think he's a selling point either.

I really hope the Lakers aren't telling him (or whoever) "we'll get whoever you want" next year. It'll be another FA fiasco.

They did not.

There was sure a lot of rumors that they were going to talk but nothing that I am aware of that they actually did talk. Seems odd to me that the Laker did not.

The only reason I would see KD joining Los Angeles is if he really had his sights on building his legacy as the next "Great Laker".

He does have a chance to become legendary anywhere he chooses. Washington with JWall and Beal. New York with Melo. I don't think Golden State has a chance, because there's no way he would take that much of a paycut. Plus he doesn't seem like the type to go ring chasing to that level of desperation like Lebron. (Not a Lebron hater but let's be honest him leaving to Miami was pretty desperate)

As for Los Angeles, sure he knows he would be the King of LakerLand if he would choose this path. #35 would look great on Staples Center wall of fame next to 32,33, 44,42,34,22 and so on.

An if KD does pass on the Lakers which is highly likely I'd be happy going for his teammate Russell Westbrook who also has a chance on becoming pretty legendary himself

no probably not.
Maybe if this year in OKC goes terribly wrong, and KD and Russ kind of make an agreement to leave OKC and meet up here in LA - also assuming they really like how our young guys look. That is the epitome of a pipe dream tho. lol

We have a really great shot at Paul George in 2018 I think though. Our young guys will be developed enough to really intrigue him. LA guy. Pacers going downhill.. ..

Russell ROY, Randle All Star and Kobe 2013 shows up. With Hibbert at runner up DOPY year. Then at that point, they go after Al Horford, and then tell Durant we are stacking this team for a title run immediatly and you are the missing piece, here's 200 million and come be Kobe's Scotie Pippen.....hahaha, j/k. Kobe taking 5-7 mil per also. 1 or 2 of these might happen, but thats about it.

Pacers making him play PF full time will steer him right home to LA

He started off the season slowly, adjusting to his new role. But by the end, he was playing well. In the last few months of the season, he hit something like 43% of his threes as the team went something like 28-7. As the number 3 guy as a stretch 4, I think he makes a big difference for the Cavs. I think it really hurt them in the finals to not have him.
