PostPosted: Wed Sep 23, 2015 9:55 pm    Post subject: Official Season Long Crow Eating Thread

We all post things that can't be proven until time passes. Often people say negative things about a player and then say "I hope I'm wrong." Here's a thread we could come back to throughout the season to see which players are above, at, or below expectations. It will allow us to rib each other in a good natured way, give players their props, and we can man (woman ) up if predictions were off. Below are some things people have said or extra things I added. It would be awesome motivation for players to hear about this.

The Lakers won't
a) win much more than they did last year
b) make the playoffs

Kobe isn't good enough to make a difference anymore, proved he can't shoot /play D.

Clarkson is average at best, should be Kobe's backup, is overrated by Lakers' fans, isn't a good passer, shooter, doesn't pass.

Randle is nothing special, can't shoot, won't rebound /play defense, shouldn't be starting, should be traded, only cares about offense/himself.

Russell will be a bust, is too slow, too weak, can't dribble, never should have come to L.A., is Kendall Marshall 2.0

Nance Jr. shouldn't have been a 1st Rd pick, will never be good enough to start, can't shoot to save his life, belongs in the D League, can't stop anyone on D.

Hibbert is too slow to make a difference, should never be fed the ball to score, is a waste of time, his best years are behind him.

Bass won't make a difference, he's just filler.

LWilliams is not worth the money they gave him, only scored last year because someone had to, is a low % shooter who won't make them any better than Young did last year.

ABrown is too skinny, weak, small to make the rotation, his shooting is nothing special.

JBrown is a ball hog, belongs overseas, can't get his own shot, will never get off the bench, is too slow, plays no D.

Upshaw shouldn't be on the team, won't get off the bench, won't make it through the season, won't excel at this level, won't be part of the roster, is incapable of scoring, proved he isn't very good, won't contribute to a winning season this year.

Black is filler until they can get a better player, is too small, too slow, a tweener.

Kelly is a waste of time.

Sacre should change his name to Suckre.

I'm on the rookie bandwagon. I expect them all to do well. I think Jabari Brown will make the team and do well when he plays.

I have no faith and Ryan Kelly. I always expect young players to improve, but he showed me last year that he was worse than the year before. To me, they need to let him go.

I believe Sacre improved his shot, just like he did last year, even though he won't make the team.

Lol this thread made me realize how optimistic I really am about our young core. I honestly have nothing bad to say about any of them and I'm happy with them all.

I think the Lakers will win more than last year, but not make the playoffs.

I think Kobe will miss at least 20 games, shoot a low percentage on FG and 3-pointers, play poor defense, and score a lot when he's able to play.

I think Randle will struggle a lot in his rookie season.

Hibbert will be Hibbert -- a plodding guy who plays solid defense.

Nance, Kelly, and Sacre will be non-factors.

Bass will be a solid vet.

Williams will provide good scoring from the bench.

I have no strong sense for how Russell and Clarkson will do.

I'll eat crow if:

Kobe plays like Kobe

Randle looks like Lebron-lite

Byron uses analytics

We go a month with zero drastic injuries

Vitti looks sober

Kelly improved his lateral quickness

Russell doesn't average over 6 assists

Clarkson regresses

Hibbert actually has an impact

Nick Young/Lou Williams tandem works out

Anthony Brown makes 10 3 pointers by Thanksgiving

Ryan West openly gives credit to Jesse Buss for being a great scout

Larry Nance doesn't look like a scrub

I'll eat crow if Byron gets them in an offense with good ball movement and spacing, a defense that closes off the paint and closes out on three point shooters, and/or a top 10 finish in either category.

And I'll eat crow if he doesn't allow for them to get theirs. I think he's often going to 'defer' to them , or look to get them involved alottt.
I think he knows it's their time

I don't think it's fair to label a player based on a few meaningless summer league games like people did in that thread.

A few players have spoken highly of Russell in the scrimmages these past few weeks. The Kendall Marshall label is a little interesting to me. Roy Hibbert called him sneaky athletic. I think we'll see a few show stopping dunks from him, and that Kendall Marshall comparison will be put to rest.

How about eating crow when people are talking about how someone will eat crow and then be wrong about it. #RIP KBCB

I'm optimistic that the current Laker team will do better than last year's roster, and there are lots of reasons. Aside from the pure odds that another injury-plagued season seems so unlikely, there's some better looking talent here: at center, at lead guard, and among the big forwards.

I also think that newest Lakers will reflect a typical share of every level of performance possible: some will do well and others won't. I hope our coach can analyze the guys and determine - then disseminate - the style of play that put the team in its best chance to succeed overall.

We have a very good chance to see the Lakers actually improve from a prior season for the first time since winning a title.

Good Thread. We have a lot of people thinking that were the worst team in the NBA and we have zero talent on this Team. Majority of this is based off how the Lakers played in Summer League. People act like adding Hibbert, Williams and Bass makes us worse than the past two seasons.

Technically speaking - outside of the GOAT before retiring and a defensive big we're about to see how a 3rd string all-ncaa team would do in the league.

*happily moves to the front of the line
