Love it!

Don't think Kobe is going to move up much in the steals department, but he's really close on a lot of these.

Nice to see some context though.

Had Kobe not been injured the past two seasons those records would have long been conquered.

I think he would have passed a few people, but I don't see any area that he'd be #1.

Yeah, he would have passed a few people on somewhat meaningless records, but nothing major
I wondered which ones LakerLand thought would be "conquered" without stretching mathematical probabilities beyond reality

That is kind of insane that Lebron is already ahead in assists.

Yah, I was surprised when I saw his name there.

Also surprised to see Karl Malone with more steals than Kobe? Wut.

Malone averaged 1.4 steals per game for his career and Kobe has averaged 1.5 steals. I think Malone has the second highest career average for a PF after Barkley.

For fun, all-time steals per game team

PG ... Michael Ray Richardson ... 2.6
SG ... Alvin Robertson ... 2.71
SF ... Scottie Pippen ... 1.96
PF ... Charles Barkley ... 1.54
C ..... Hakeem ... 1.75

Wow, Hakeem with 1.75? I was surprised to see Malone because I don't usually think of steals guys as being bigs.

Kobe passes Shaq for 6'th in field goals and Drexler for 30th in assists. (I'm including ABA stats for all players)

Unfortunately through two games he is rapidly adding to his all-time misses list

Aren't you all sweetness and light.

I get it . . . it's been a rough two games.

This is just to distract from our current difficulties.

Not so fast. Many people are on pins and needles for the announcement of when Kobe passes Ron Boone on the all-time fouls list. I think everything in LG is on hold until then.

This is the first season that Kobe's on court performance brings to mind the severely diminished level of play we saw at career's end of some of the game's most fabled players, including Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, Walt Frazier, and yes, Michael Jordan.

I wish instead - for both the team and himself - that he'd hang up the sneaks in the more honorable way that Jerry West did, when he admitted to himself that:

"I became too frustrated not being able to beat guys whom I always beat. I could still play at a reasonable level for a while I guess but I don't want that. I've lost the quickness and speed I needed to do things I knew I could do. For the good of the Lakers and myself, I'm out."

While I fear you may be right . . . two games does not a season make. No player on our starting five played together last year (unless you count 15 minutes). Everyone (except Kobe) is given time to get their act together after serious time out from an injury.

Meanwhile . . . don't you think five championships have earned him the right to go out however he wants?
