Doc and Paul have been trying to get over the Lakers for a while. Went 2-1 in LA's favor late 2000's. Doc put up that empty banner and embarrassed his entire org. Then he put the Clipper selfies over the Laker banners not recognizing those belong to the city, not the team. Strike two.

Now the Clips are loaded. Legit contenders. Easy time to go for round three. We'll see how that turns out though. There at their apex and the Lakers are back on an upward arc. The gap is still pretty wide but its closing.

Dude's just mad cuz Kobe is the king of LA, while nobody cares that Paul Pierce grew up in Inglewood, he's still regarded as the enemy since he played for the hated Celtics.

It's easier to take the lesser role when you're the lesser player Paul Pierce. But anyway, Kobe has not had the teammates to take a back seat recently. I think he will let the young guys shine because they have talent. He doesn't have to carry the load like other years.

And what's your acceptance of a "lesser role" going to get you, Paul? First/Second round exits until you retire? Shut up, douche.

This guy said that he'd probably retire if the Clippers win a ring. Looks like he's going to be playing forever.

Easy for Pierce to say that when the Clippers have 2 HOFers who will carry him this season. Kobe has said numerous times that he will only pass the keys if he had another winning HOFer on his side, and Dwight doesn't count since he clearly didn't want to take on the responsibility. If we had Chris Paul, Kobe would have no problem taking the "reduced" role. Kobe obviously respects Paul very much and considers him a winner.

Where pierce is right is in regards to money though. Bryant took the money over winning. All the other greats went for winning. Dirk got neither. Duncan got contention. LeBron won (Heatles). Its still a crapshoot.

Pierce has 1 ring while kobe has 5. Was a nobody till they built a super team that was a disappointment imo (team shoulda won more than 1 ring) Dude is deep down hurt no one in LA likes him and tries to portray it as intentional trolling

Pierce has been on so many teams, its hard to keep up. Looking forward to the 2nd round exit for them again and the summer of ''we'll be better next year, its a journey''.

The Lakers have yet to have a better player than Kobe. Who should Kobe take a backseat to? P P is something that you put between 2 buns.

He played balls out in the most recent season. Kobe did not and we have no idea if he will next season. He will take a lesser role, even if it is just in MPG.

Taking less money to stack teams is a weak way to win, if all the stars would take there market value teams would even out and players wouldn't have to cheat themselves out of millions to win.

Please, Clarkson has done nothing. The MPG part is not taking a lessor role, it would make sense if the Lakers have enough talent.

Actually i thought Kobe played pretty balls out last season, especially if you consider 11ppg balls out.

So it has nothing to do with who's better, just past accomplishments then... that's what I thought.

It's irrelevant anyway. Byron has said Kobe's role will be the same, just in fewer minutes.

the sad reality of paul pierce is that the man is now a clipper... the Clippers... the guy can talk all the mess he wants because he is on a team that represents the true $hit stains of Los Angeles....

most real NBA fans don't even recognize that team as "Los Angeles"

This. I love Bean to death. And honestly, its the owners and the (bleep) CPA that's unfairly capping the players' salaries.

But under these circumstances, Kob chose money, and that destroyed any of his and our chances at a championship over the last 2-3 years.

We would have had cap space for 2 free agents if he had taken less. Who knows what would have happened? 2 stars MAY be keen to team up.

But when he took that money, there was only 1 free agent space. And NO STAR, would SINGULARLY come to our depleted team.
