I like the effort from some of the players tonight. Defense was solid overall, and very good for the first 3 quarters but then we just became gassed in the 4th.
This loss is on Scott and Scott alone. He clearly has no idea how to set up an offense, at all. And his rotations and minute management lost the game too.
Although I don't really care about the loss, I care about the terrible management. Like UPSHAW NOT PLAYING A SINGLE SECOND! Instead, we see that (bleep) bum Sacre and Kelly. We want to see Upshaw Scott, not (bleep) losers! _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

One of the Kamenetsky's is doing the post-game radio show. I sure hope it's not a permanent thing, as I'm not really crazy about either of them. |

It will take a big revolt from the fanbase. He is so protected by all of his former teammates and coworkers in the local media. |
That's not that difficult. James Dolan had the biggest fetish in the world for Isiah Thomas as coach and Knicks fans would chant literally EVERY GAME "FIRE ISIAH!" *clap clap, clap clap clap* (rinse and repeat).
We can do the same thing with Scott. |
Don't hold your breath. Those dumb staple center crowd only knows 2 chants:
MVP when Kobe goes to line with team down by 20, and that we want taco chant |

Team looked like (bleep)! Some good plays but overall...still look lost. I expected a decent game from Randle and Russell and they played mediocre. Russell had some passes and 1 freaking 3. Average play at least. It's obviously going to be years if they are the real deal. So far, jury is out. Mediocre players show glimpses. They are both very young, so we wait and wait and hope for the best. |

Remember the minimum number of Game Threads in regular season to be started by a poster is 7 to qualify for the Championship. The winner of the championship should be calculated by winning percentage.

On lunch from class now. So I missed the entire game. From the NBA.com highlights we looked good through the first 3 quarters. _________________

I honestly believe the FO has a hand in the Upshaw playing departmet. Mitch already said he will not be in the rotation. |

LOL, you could have Old Red coaching this team or Riles we would still be bad. They are a bunch of rookies. |

I dont like Jabari Brown, I think he is a chemistry killer. Too much selfish play and he is not good enough to do that. |

This is what we've had last couple years, players playing for their next contracts or getting those guaranteed contracts. Of course they gonna look for theirs, they don't care the end result they just want to showcase their games. We need continuity, no more those d league rentals or over the hill vets. |

Abysmal shooting night overall, but damn, Jabari sure did try his best to lose this game for us all on his own. |

Blippers and Heat also got blown out. It's preseason game 1.
Kobe is back. Hibbert looked pretty good. Lou looked good. Nick looked good. Clarkson looked good.
Russell and Randle need more work.

I believe Frazier is more of a spot up then Brown he may be a better option? With Russell, Lou, Kobe, Clarkson, and Huertas all able to handle the rock, we need some catch and shoot guys? |

Jabari would have looked better in a proper system. They left him on an island a couple times tonight. |

Yep. It's why I can't criticize Wesley for what he said too much. Scott's system is trash. Guys don't really don't know what they're doing. |

I was with Wes up to the point where he complained about his touches. |

Exactly this team can't make shots. It's not the defense as much as the offense which is pathetic. The team barely gets eighty points per night, they are their own stoppers. If players can't score freelly, the defensive game just wears you down and you simply break down. The best defense is actually a good offense, once the other team can't control your offense they give up. |

Jabari seems like a system breaking ball stopper at the most inopportune times. such as after he turns over the ball. Don't think he has the patience to be a system player. He'd branch off into doing his own thing too often and hurt the team. At least this far into his NBA career that seems to be his problem. |

Thats just ridiculous. You can say his system is outdated, but they dont know what they are doing? Scott has led teams to deep playoff runs using his system.
It may be outdated yes, but atleast try to act like your hate for Scott is not beyond logic. |

Its preseason and the guys barely played with each other...Mix in a couple of rookies and this is what you get. Its a work in progress. |

Two small observations:
1. I'm VERY encouraged by what I saw from Kobe tonight. This is the reason: his fluidity of movement was far superior than at any point last year. That he could run and work his lower body during this rehab is obvious. He was never fluid last season, for obvious reasons. This is highly encouraging.
2. IMHO, Byron's teams will NEVER play well for at least the first two exhibition games. Reason? Dead tired legs from the conditioning work. I'm not commenting one way or the other on the validity of that work. But it's clear that everyone's legs were dead. Improvement in shooting and transition defense should be seen when they aren't running in practice so much.

yea your 2nd point is the truth. Even Byron after the game said that the team's energy level was what he expected, and that the Jazz outran them. The last few days I've seen these guys limping in their practices, lol. Clarkson was way more explosive mid-season last year. -- all meaning that these guys are definitely fatigued right now.
Hopefully BScott eases up and we get to see some good basketball by the end of the preseason |

I'm still amazed that we still have people trying to judge the team, or Byron, off of a pre season game. Acting as if the Lakers are playing for some imaginary pre season championship. Oh wait....there isn't one.
Scott's job isn't to try and win meaningless pre season games. MEANINGLESS. His job right now is to evaluate the teams progress on both ends of the court, and also evaluating players performance in differing situations. Pre season is all about acclimation and experimentation.
I know people are starved for wins, but calm down, and try to keep things in perspective. If any coach said their goal was to win pre season games, that would be some sad ish.......
