D'Angelo Russell update -- held out of practice today but Lakers say he showed signs of improvement. Status for tomorrow's game is TBD.

Brandon Bass update -- had an x-ray this morning on his left knee, results inconclusive. He will be examined by team doctors tomorrow in LA

I never liked the idea of cameramen crowding the baseline, if I were Commish for a day I would ban that. With the lenses they have today there is no reason they need to be that close.

so sick of this mom and pop joint sentiment in this ownership. mom and pop shops are good for restaurants, not for multi-billion dollar enterprise like the Lakers. too much emotion attached to let these old geezers go. we should've revamped the entire training staff (from trainer to team doctor) long time ago.

So you think another trainer would somehow prevent Russell's ass from hitting the floor? Or Bass from hitting a camera?

We haven't been able to kick this little unjury bug for three plus seasons now. It's really frustrating. And no, I'm not blaming the training staff.

That's incredibly frustrating.

It's poor ownership. There should have been a total overhaul of our medical and training staff awhile ago. The Buss' should have brought in the best injury prevention and rehabilitation team money could buy. After this many seasons of having so many injuries you would think they would do something to try to change it.

THIS! Remember, the Lakers are the only business the Buss Family owns. This is their cash cow. They don't spend nearly as much on medical staff as other teams in the league.

This is where they should be criticized, not personnel decisions. As long as Mitch is GM I am fine with the front office. Its the training staff and resources they get that needs to be upgraded.

Let's hope that knee isn't going to be an issue throughout the season. Bass has practically been an ironman the past three seasons. Luck definitely isn't favoring the lakers when it comes to injuries.

D'Angelo Russell (glute) is still sore from his fall on Tuesday and will be a game time decision. Nothing yet on Bass from the Lakers.

Training camp isn't the time to prove you are tough.

It's a pre season game though it's not where toughness is judged.

Russell was fighting to come back in and play in that game...but thankfully for once Vitti spoke up and said "no". Has nothing to do with his toughness. I hope he doesn't play tonight. Wait til next game.

I'd like to see Russell play but I understand if he misses the game and sits out.

Playing an unnecessary game where he still might be hobbled by pain isn't being tough, it's opening yourself to even worse injury due to trying to compensate for the pain while playing at full speed. Yeah, it sucks for fans if he can't suit up, but I'd much rather the Lakers and Russell make sure he's healthy than entertain me in a random PRESEASON game.

No brainer. Sit him out and give him a week's rest or until there is no more soreness.

Yeah, the third preseason game of eight is where NBA players earn their stripes as iron men.

If Russell could play, I'm sure he would. But the lakers are the ones being precautious, as they should.

Yeah Russell wants to play but doctors and coaching staff does not.

Does he have a bruise on his butt or not?

In most cases, of course I would agree. But I'm just surprised a bruised buttock, if that is indeed what is going on, would keep him out. What's the precuation? You can't break your own butt cheek .. Or can you?

It makes me wonder if there might be more to the story. Just never heard of a basketball player missing a game because they were literally butt hurt.
