+1. Blacks already on the team, he needs to give Hibbert some time to get a rhythm with the starters and the others are getting evaluated. Black will get some time in the next game or the one after |

Exactly, I think Black is next. Honestly tho, Black didn't impress in the summer league and I don't think he showed up to camp in shape _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

Byron said the other day that Tarik Black is not playing mean enough, so Byron is being mean by not playing him.

he is young so no excuse of evaluating others over him. he needs time in the middle | are you guys to young to ever remember how pre season can go?
let me explain:
there's two types of pre season rotations you could possibly witness.
1. play darn near everyone every single game with limited mins in early games for guys that you already know will be making the team. this gives other guys run so they cant say but i never got in. and then they get cut little by little. the more guys get cut the more you start playing your real lineups with a few new guys you like thrown in the mix. the only issue with this method is, there's too many darn players. so guys cant get any consistency going in such limited time. so you wont know if the guy was looking shaky because he is shaky or because his mins were shaky.
2. like byron is doing them now. play real lineups for a nice set of time, then play the other guys that are on the bubble and trying to make the roster. but doing this mean that the pool of no name guys we'll have to take turns playing. you two go on game 1 and 2. guy 3 and 4 goes on game 3 and 4. this means you get all the burn you need to showcase your talents and so coach can see your weaknesses.
here's the other thing you have to take into consideration. Injuries. why was lou out there so much. because we dont have any more pg's to play. the guy from overseas is hurt, russell is hurt. so thats it. lou it is and jabari has to cover for nick young's backup spot. since he's a vet too. no reason to keep playing him. we already know what he has.
i would assume we will see upshaw in the next preseason game getting some more run too. and more holmes.
truth is, there's almos zero reason to play sacre or black right now. aside from team chemistry. we need to see the bubble guys. MWP, Upshaw, holmes, (muertas is injured so we cant see him yet.) nance was half hurt. which is why he wasnt playing a lot. notice no A.brown. shoulder issue.
so no one is in the dog house. its too early for that. black will probably get run when they decide to get rid of holmes, or muertas, or upshaw, or mwp, etc. |

If it's really a matter of Scott knowing what those three bring to the table, then why give Sacre minutes instead of Black? Sacre has been in the league for a few years already. There's no question at all in what he brings. He's shown no significant improvement since he's been in the league, likable guy or not. Black is the much better player and has a lot more upside. The only thing Sacre really has going for him is that he's big and can take up space. But there's zero energy in his game. Black is the one with the high motor. He doesn't play as if he's just out there to fill in as the mandatory fifth guy on the court. He's actually active while he's out there. Sacre? When he plays it's easy to forget he's even on the court.
At this point, it's obvious that Sacre just is who he is. He's not gonna get any better. Black actually has potential. |

Although in these minutes Black has got this preseason he was maybe even worse than Sacre.
I keep wondering if Black came into the camp out of shape? There have been no reports on that, but his absence from rotation is getting worrisome. _________________ .

We're getting a look at other players. Black is the backup C and it's his position to loose, IMO. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Maybe my memory is foggy but I don't know what you're basing that on. Black hasn't even gotten any significant minutes yet. He played a little in the first game, but that's been it. I don't know how it's fair to talk about how bad a player "has" looked if they've barely been out there long enough to even break a sweat. Sacre's played more and has resembled the same player he's always been. He's just....on the court. That's it. His presence is nonexistent in virtually every area. If we wanted to make a much more fair assessment of both players by comparing them, we'd do well to compare how they've played as starters, getting meaningful minutes. When Black was starting center last year, he played pretty terrific. He cleared the glass, blocked some shots, scored a little when given the opportunity, and most importantly, played with energy.
Sacre, on the other hand? He's been starting center for numerous stretches over the years and his impact in those games was no different than when he was a backup/third stringer, which, again, was nothing significant. I really don't understand what people see in Sacre that makes him more worthy of staying than Black. Just judging from sheer upside alone, it's not even close between those two. The Lakers picking up Black last year was a pretty underrated steal imo. |

He doesn't have a mean streak like Steve Black. In order to get playing time, Byron wants him to emulate the legendary Laker, Steve Black. |
