Only for a minimum deal. Iirc we still have our room exception? No way he gets any of that.

I doubt anyone would offer more than that. With Sanders we would have 48 straight minutes of All Defense caliber play at the center position. That would be huge.

Still no because this guy can fall apart at any moment.

Assuming Sacre gets canned and Randle, Bass and Hibbert are locks as our bigs.

Sanders vs Black, Upshaw, Holmes, Kelly, Nance.

Id take a healthy Sanders over them. But doubt hes healthy--mind and body.

That's what I'm worried about. Do we know his effort will be there or is he just looking to collect a paycheck?

Cut Sacre and sign Sanders for the minimum. No big loss either way.

Then cut him if it's not. Pretty simple.

On a developing team with a bunch of young hopefuls let's not invite anyone where we have to question his commitment.

He's not going to make that big of a difference either way. I would rather give those minutes to Upshaw & Black. And that's assuming that Bass is also going to log a lot of minutes as a backup C.

If we sign him then we would probably have to cut Black depending on whether we are signing MWP. And I'm not prepared to cut a good energy big like Black to hope that Sanders is not playing for a paycheck with no effort behind it.

Where is Black going to go? It's not even a sure thing another team would pick him up. He's never going to develop into a meaningful player. If Sanders can be what he was he is a big time player.

Should tell you something that a team as desperate and dice-rolling as the Mavs isn't interested.

I would say the fact that he walked away from an 8 figure contract, stated he didn't like playing basketball and, just to make things interesting, has a substance abuse problem, just might send up a teeny tiny red flag or two.

Call me crazy, but when I go down the checklist of things I look for in a player, I tend to put actually liking playing the game fairly high up there.

Hassan Whiteside had a lot of red flags too.

Difference is that Sanders had already made it and walked away.

Whiteside is more of a best case scenario for Upshaw, and even then it's about a 1000 to 1 shot.

There's no way he passes a drug test. He's been spending his time in Cali since "retiring".

Also the difference is Sanders has already proven he can play.

I'm not sure if you're joking or being sincere, but either way, that's not nice...

Sanders isn't gonna go from getting paid nearly nine figures on starter minutes to barely getting paid a million dollars with limited minutes off the bench and be satisfied after retiring because he didn't like playing basketball.

He got a $13.3 Million buyout from the Bucks, which will be paid to him over 7 years($1.9M/per year).

Peter Dinklage would be better than Sacre.
