Less than 1 week away from the regular season... I'll stick with Byron for the rest of the year and then reevaluate.

Maybe by the end of the season we might have enough healthy players and 10 whole wins to convince durant to come play with us.

Are Laker fans getting hyperbolic again?!

If you can tell me a time when they stopped, I'd like to look it up.

what do we know about Luke that suggests he's a good head coach? At least with the other guys who have been mentioned as possible coaches in the past have proven they can coach at a very high level (Blatt in Europe, Calipari at Kentucky, Ollie at Connecticut). Luke isn't exactly Steve Kerr in terms of experience so it seems a bit risky. And in the next few years I honestly think that our team is going to be one of the most exciting teams in the league, and we should have our pick of the litter for who we want to be our coach.

Well.

1. experience? Kerr was a player, GM, TV analyst, and voice for the NBA2K series. Luke has 1 year as an assistant and now is elevated to associate (2nd in command, but now is acting head coach).

2. Warriors know what the hell they're doing. The fact they elevated him to Gentry's spot tells me they see the promise, but also know Luke isn't staying around forever as Kerr may be the long-term coach. But given his health, maybe now Luke may be groomed for the Warriors? I say take him while we can. (next year most likely).

I think being a GM is massive experience with many translatable skills when it comes to being a head coach.

some of you all are hilarious..

I like Luke, but let's keep in mind:
1. he has 1 year experience as an assistant coach
2. Kerr, yes Kerr, is still running that team. Luke's been "standing in" for 4 or 5 weeks while Kerr is recovering, but it's been reported numerous times that Kerr is involved every single day and has been talking to Luke to tell him what he wants done. Kerr reportedly can't stand for very long and can't sit for very long, so he can't be at practice for very long and can't sit on the bench during games.

making this situation out like Luke is primarily responsible for GSW's successes is seriously over-stating his role. Right now, he's basically holding Kerr's clipboard..

in a few years, we'll see - but right now, he's very junior and very inexperienced

My only criteria for our next coach is that they've never won Coach of the Year.

Noooooo!!! this is the first time I've ever disagreed with Rivershow

I don't want thibs because he seems like a repeat of Byron except he knows what he's doing defensively.

But Luke is definitely on my radar. He still has more to prove, but I like what I see so far

Lol no worries. I can see why people would get turned off by Thibs. The main reason why I went with Thibs is that I think he really cares about getting better which is why he's going around to other teams and watching them. As opposed to Byron who is stubborn in his own ways and has to be dragged into new age coaching. I also like Thibs because he was able to draw out the talent of middling rosters and get them in the playoffs.

Both those things are true about thibs. Good points.

If he really is going around and learning he could become even more potent

Thibs is the 2nd best coach I've ever seen. He'd turn our team around in 1 season.

If thibs changes his offense to a more modern one and if he stops working the players that hard and if he stops the sucky rotations.. a lot of if's. I mean, i like the dude, a workaholic and all that but he has some big red flags, chicago just brought another coach in an attempt to get them over the hump. Dont know if thibs can guide a team all the way to a ring. Also, he may have won the coach of the year award in the past

How does Luke feel about analytics and is he as intelligent as Madsen? ASU doesn't have the best academic record.

As long as it isn't as a player-coach deal I am cool with it.

Hell, bring Vujacic in as an assistant coach. Just not a player coach for crissakes.

Exactly what has Walton done? He's just telling them to do what they did last year..lol. With guys who can't miss a 3pt shot how much coaching do you need to do. I see Walton becoming the next Banks at LG. This place is funny.

yes for Luke. I don't understand not wanting the associate head coach from a championship team. who'm was also a smart, unselfish player.
