Jeremy Lin, Kemba Walker backcourt pairing paying early dividends for Hornets

Of the Walker-Lin grouping, Clifford said: "I think it’s just two really good pick-and-roll players on the floor together. And also when (Nicolas) Batum is out there, because he’s also a good pick-and-roll player, they draw two defenders every time they get in the pick-and-roll.

“Then when the ball moves, the next guy has room, or there’s so much space on the other side. That’s really what the NBA game is about. Put all three of them out there, it’s such a good skill level that we can create shots."

Said Lin of his new relationship with Walker: "The biggest thing is – and that’s not just me and Kemba (Walker), it’s any basketball relationship – you have to want to see the other person succeed. I’ve been very impressed with who Kemba is as a person and how down to earth and humble he is. We’ve been able to get along off the court and carry that onto the court and it’s been fun. I love playing with him."

(Backhanded dig at his last two teams)

I don't see that as a backhanded dig. It is a simple compliment.

Lin saying his teammates on other teams did not want to see him succeed, and deductively, wanted to see him fail? Its all a conspiracy against Lin.

Good for him, but I think its an indictment on his abilities if he needs other players in order to play better.

The problem is he didn't say any of that.

lol, no reading between the lines, he's saying that his former two teams had ball dominant shooting guards that didn't pass him the ball and had systems that did not allow him to play his game which is coming off screens and the pick and roll. Now he has team mates that are unselfish and pass the ball.

Think Warriors and Spurs

He's looking good so far this preseason. Better than any of our guys currently.

I think it really speaks to the culture Clifford it's trying to create.

If Clifford was the coach here this season, I think Russell would look significantly better than he has looked.

It just shows you the detrimental effect BS has on the perceived value of the players on his teams.

Time will tell but so far he's putting up pretty good numbers. It's early and the regular season will be the most telling. He's playing under control, not just running into the lane and throwing up prayers, falling to the ground or throwing the ball away anymore. His turnovers are down and his assist numbers up. He's shooting a blistering percentage.

Clifford has put together a Warrior's lite type basketball system.

Probably had something to do with all the lay-ups he missed.

This! Jeremy knows his game which is working off pick and rolls. I think russell will probally do better working off of pick and rolls which allow him to use his passing ability better.

Jeremy picked a situation that was good for him. He took less money, but a short term contract ,2nd year is player option, to prove himself.

Haha. Poor Jeremy. Always the underdog.

Can't wait to read the happy articles out of Charlotte when they are 7-20 and our Jezza is shooting 42%.

Lin fans calling for Lin to displace Kemba should be a nice topic of discussion for Hornets boards.

Best of luck...to the Hornets board mods.

The weird thing is there are more posts about him on the Rockets board then on the Hornets boards.

Kemba isn't Ronnie Price.

On the RealGM boards there hasn't been happening. They are just happy that he's been put in a situation where he can play to his strengths.

Hornets fans haven't been baiting his fans for the most part. They are just happy to have him.

Hey, MJ called Lin his biggest acquisition this offseason. That has to count for something, lol.
