Bass does not play well at center, especially on D. Tarik Black is way more active and athletic. We don't have too many good defenders on the team, Tarik needs some more PT!

I don't get Byron. Ryan Kelly sucks at 3 yet, let's play him all season at the 3. Bass is not good a center, so let's play him at center.

I'm beginning to think that Byron was not in tank mode last season, that was him coaching to win.

I was thinking the same thing.

The thing that's most concerning to me about Black not getting any playing time is that it's probably more of a personal thing with Byron than a basketball thing. Ever since he said Tarik is "too nice" at the start of training camp, Tarik hasn't sniffed the court. And that's sad since he continued to demonstrate that he's heads, shoulders, knees, and toes better than Sacre and that he DESERVES to see the floor. He actually plays with energy and hustle, which is everything Bass DOESN'T provide when he plays C. If you really wanna play an "undersized" center, why not go with Black since he's actually gonna rebound and block some shots? I think his "gentle giant" personality just rubs Scott the wrong way, which is just sad. So annoying.

I think Byron forgot which players are on the roster.

Muscle bound big man who plays physical. Therefore he needs a personality like Charles Oakley and Bill Laimbeer, instead of being satisfied with being a hard worker and good teammate. Critical thinking, folks.

Black showed good chemistry with Huertas in the preseason and should be the backup C.

Unfortunately, Byron prefers Bass because he is a vet and has more experience and Kelly because of his ability to stretch the floor.

I hope Black becomes part of the rotation sooner rather than later.

Is Tarik Black our best P&R defender.
Hibbert is great at going under the pick and clogging the paint.
But besides that, I wonder if Black defends the P&R better than Bass or Kelly.

Dude NEEDS to play. I'm sorry but Brandon Bass as the backup 5 is a complete joke. He may be small, but he isn't a "small ball center" by any stretch..

I have a feeling that Bass may be on the trading block this year. I like him but not sure how he fits on this team long-term.

So do you think Black at center vs. Bass would have quelled that run that gave the Twolves the lead? I do.

Kelly is virtually the center when him and bass are in together.

And that's a problem.

Black needs to man the center for Unit 2 even if Bass is the odd man out, to get more production out of Huertas and Kelly, not the other way around.

The sad thing is that I think Byron has an inkling but his loyalty to Brandon is superseding it.

Lou
Young
Huertas
Kelly
Bass

no one should be shocked leads will get blown consistently with this line up. We are not the Warriors. Stop trying to mimic them. By the way the Warriors coaching is obviously smarter than ours because they still play Bogut and Ezeli when they need defense and rebounding.

The irony is that the Warriors have one of the best defenses. So we're not even close to mimicking them on that end.

I think Scott thought about going with Bass/Black or Bass/Sacre but Ryan Kelly play at PS changed everything.
Off topic: I want to see someone from the starting unit to play with the reserves. Clarkson, Dlo, Randle, whoever. I see nowadays every team mix up starters and subs on the court but the Lakers doesn't do it.
