One thing about Porzingis and Towns, both of them seem to be able to make a significant impact and even finish with good all around stats in games that they don't play particularly well in. I find that impressive - and sort of like young KG. Now don't know if either will end up close to that good, but recall young KG doing similar. So did someone like Kirilenko.
I've been impressed by Porzingis' maturity. He has some swag but it doesn't come across as childish. There is definitely a mental edge that he has over most of the other rookies. He's out to prove that he's not the soft, white, Euro.
I've found many in this draft to be impressive. Most of these guys are 1 year out of HS, or in the case of Zinger first time playing in a new country and culture. It's been nice to see not a single "bust" or headcase in the top picks, maybe outside of Orlando's pick (Although very very early to even say that). Everyone from Towns, Okafor, Zinger, Russell, WCS, Winslow, Mudiay have stepped in and right away been giving a team NBA level production either starter worthy or even better. That takes a lot of talent but also a lot of mental stability.
Muday is the only pick that's not looking good. _________________ RIP Kobe

Mudiay is struggling.
But I think his shooting % will improve when his teammates get healthy and he has more scoring threats around him.
Wilson Chandler had a season ending injury before the season started.
But now that Faried has been out, he doesn't have a good P&R option (he did return last night but played limited minutes with the bench).
Oh and Gary Harris (the floor spreader who replaced Chandler in the starting lineup) was hurt and didn't play last night as well.
Oh and their starting center Nurkic should be back soon as well.
Gallinari (the only other starter that's been healthy this season and a great shooter) has been shooting like (bleep) lately. And his shot mechanics are great. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

Porzingis tooled Dwight. If you guys recall, Dwight you to have all sorts of trouble with Yao as well. He can't do anything to affect these guys shots. They just face up and shoot right over him.

Actually from what I saw of the game - I caught about half of it - Porzingis wasn't played at all by Dwight - mostly it was Capela or Ariza or Terrence Jones. Dwight was played by Lopez and Seraphin (Very well). Dwight had a nasty dunk on Zinger on a lob play - it was classic Dwight welcoming Zinger on his first poster. Nice memory for the kid. BTW, Dwight has slowed down, but on off the ball play, he's still a monster. S/R, cuts, feeds close in, he's still the most powerful guy in the league down there. Seraphin also has a lot of power, have no idea why he's not made a bigger name for himself in the league.

Welcome to the league, rook. --->
Ah. I just did the ole' box-score analysis . Yeah, when healthy Dwight is still such a huge impact on their team.

What was nice about that - was right after that he went on O, got the ball and went straight to the basket for a drive past his man right over Dwight anchoring. That's more important - the reaction after something like that than actually that happening.

Yeah, but Dwight posterized him.
I don't mind that he was posterized. He was the help defender and still went up to challenge the shot aggressively. Actions speak louder than words and Porzingis keeps saying that he's weaker than other players, but he's aggressive and not afraid of anyone. A winner's attitude.
Contrast that with the defense of a soft player who is unfortunately a current Laker.
I like Mudiay, and in the couple Nuggets games I've caught, he's made some real nice plays. But Christ that kid has to shoot better. I get that his jumper isn't great at the moment, and that's perfectly fine. But you'd hope he'd at least make up for it by finishing at a especially rate around the rim...
Really nice passer too, I like what I'm seeing there. And he seems to have cut down on the TO's since the first couple weeks of the season as well.

He can be a really good point guard if his shot is respectable. I think he can be a bigger, stronger Rondo even if his shot stays suspect. _________________ LeBron, AD, & _________. Stay tuned.

In late October, Okafor allegedly presented a fake I.D. at Misconduct Tavern in Center City, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation. Okafor, 19, was refused service, the sources said. One of the sources said he was surprised because Okafor is “a big guy” and “famous” and “pretty easy to recognize.”

I mean, that's questionable judgment. How many 6'10, 270 pound guys with his face are walking around Philly? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Since it belongs here - and I watched the entire game - I think the Sixers play much better without Okafor/Noel in the lineup together, the split has really helped them as has the way they're using Okafor now, which is less of a guy you throw the ball into every time, but a decoy and pick setter, with a lot of it to just draw the opposing team's anchor out.
Okafor didn't play well individually at all, but his team's O and him on the court led to better results. Is it a coincidence? I don't think so. Okafor should take this as a way to understand he needs to expand his game to the perimeter ala Boogie. Play inside-out, and be very good at setting picks and either rolling or popping. His skill is very high, and he seems like he has a face up game. No reason for him to stick to post up iso's as his bread and butter. He can and should learn how to expand his game if he wants to be on a successful offensive team.
But man, I don't know, he just seems unhappy in Philly. Almost like "What did I do to end up here?". Was he like that in games at Duke too?
