The question with Metta is, however, can he keep it up?

No. He's shooting out of his mind right now, but he'll come back down to his career %. But I hope he keeps it up, and ideally for him, maybe a contender comes poaching and he gets to compete for a title. I think the Warriors could use him to throw at Lebron.

Metta is playing well but it won't last. He's 37 years old and won't be on the team next year. Anthony Brown should be getting those minutes.

Metta is playing so much better and under control. I was so annoyed at his out of control play his last 2 seasons with the Lakers. He looks good in spot minutes.

Anthony Brown isn't going to teach Russel, Clarkson, Randle, Nance, Black, or Brown how to be better defenders as well as play team defense.

Metta can. Man you can see the difference between him and the rest of the team, how active his hands are, how he's all over the place. He's probably the slowest person(maybe huertas/kobe/roy) but he's all over the place.

One of the best ways to learn something is to see it. It's hard to do something, that you can't imagine being done. A coach can tell you to do something, but if you look at someone do it, and do it effectively, you can say, "oh, I can do that."

Has someone ever tried to teach you something, or you tried to teach someone something, and eventually it just fell to, "hmm just show me"?
That's Metta's role on the court....showtime.

It's no surprise our def rating has started to slowly climb up from the depths of hell since Metta started playing. You can see his impact out there for the lineups he's out there along with.

If Scott is wise (which I doubt, somehow), he will keep Metta playing only spot minutes. So that he can be active, does not have to pace himself, does not have to worry about he foul trouble.
And then start to slowly integrate A. Brown.

More likely Scott will drive Metta to the ground and then bench him and if at all, suddenly start playing Brown 20 minutes a game. And then he'll be surprised that it does not work.

I'm here. I'll admit I'm wrong if he keeps this up for a long period of time.

Metta World Peace: Lakers Struggling Because They Have ‘Fish Brains’

Quote:
“Some of the guys forgot how we got the lead, kind of like a fish,” he said. “You know how fish dig their thing in 30 second intervals? Then run into a mirror. Then they go, ‘Oh, that hurt…’ Sometimes we forget and the fish brain comes out. Maybe they ate too much sushi. Maybe they should just stick to the red meat. Maybe just be vegan.”

GOTTA LOVE MWP

I didn't have a problem with him making the team, but I definitely thought he was done. I'm pleasantly surprised by his play.

Lmao Metta is hilarious. He's the greatest accidental philosopher sports has had since Yogi Berra.

He could be our second best player! Not cool, but props to him for taking advantage of the opportunity.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that MWP can't play 3 games in 4 days at a high level. Some of his minutes should have gone to Anthony Brown.

Yeah, pace him. He's playing too much.

Cut the minutes of Kobe, Lou, MWP.

Let the young legs of DLO/JC/Nance/Randle/ABrown play more.

Agreed but you are preaching to the choir. Byron seems clueless.

Metta World Peace realizes his NBA dream again

Quote:
"I bet people thought I was gone," the Los Angeles Lakers forward recently told ESPN.com following a string of strong performances during an East Coast road trip.
"But I think now, people know I'm back. I think now, you've got to mention me in your shoot-around plan."

World Peace Previews Future for Young Lakers, Self

Quote:
Huge contributions on the floor weren’t expected from the 36-year-old. Instead, the focus was on having the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year and 2010 champion provide a positive influence for the Lakers’ young core.

In all fairness, MWP is surely still trying to deal with his emotional scars after being "touched all over" by that ghost a few days ago in OKC.
