While we're all going through the pains of currently being 1-5....the Pelicans are currently 0-6. I haven't been watching much ESPN, but it feels like most articles and stories I've seen have been about the Lakers start, Kobe's oldness, and D-Lo's early struggles.

But.............the Pelicans (barely) made the Playoffs in the West last year, with a potential MVP candidate, and they're starting off HORRIBLE this year. Has anyone caught their games? Is it just a temporary struggle, or do you see this lasting for a while?

Maybe they should not have fired Monty Williams. Still don't understand that move.

Maybe the Lakers should look at Monty?

Maybe half their top rotation is out with injuries and are now signing Jimmer Fredette and Robert Upshaw?

Well it didn't help that they had to play the Golddn State Warriors twice already. That's 1/3 of their schedule so far.

Injuries... plus they're sitting out some of their players on second half of back-to-back sets.

Monty Williams wasn't a bad coach at all. Never understood that. And part of the reason they went with Gentry was that they wanted to replicate what GST/PHX did with Gentry as coach/supporting coach. Yeah, always smart to just look at the team's results and hire a coach, not looking at your own roster.

Best big in the league potentially and you want to negate his halfcourt impact by playing high tempo speed ball. They even have Asik as well. This isn't a GST type of team at all.

Gentry's turned AD into a Channing Frye. He's relegated as a spot up 3pt shooter. It's disgusting.

Plus you factor in Holiday only has played a few games and the rest is handled by black hole instant chucker Ish Smith.

Until Reke returns this team is going to be gutter fodder for awhile.

After 2 weeks best big man in the league is Andre Drummond up to this point. Dude impacts the game hard both ends.

The Hornets have about 3 healthy NBA caliber players right now.

The truth is they really screwed up when they tried to turn their team into a playoff team as quickly as possible instead of rebuilding through the draft. They have to really regret that Nerlens Noel for Jrue Holiday trade.

i'm a little disappointed in Anthony Davis at this point.
I thought he was going to completely dominate this league, a la Shaquille O'Neal or Lebron james or something like that...
obviously it's not happening.

Amazingly we didn't get this excuse during our slow starts.

All we heard was that D'antoni's style wasn't safe and dangerous and Vitti was a curse.

So Gentry takes that style to New Orleans, their top half gets injured and they start 0-6 but the injuries for that team is used as more 'benefit of the doubt' than an overall statement about the coaching, style and direction of the team...

interesting.

Anyway, if they fire Gentry the Lakers need to jump on that hire as offensive assistant

At 0-6 the pelicans would still beat us by 10.

They have the talent and will regroup.

I thought that was a bad trade even with Noel injured.

They downgraded from coaches. Gentry is overrated, Curry and Klay made him look like a great assistant.

They are 1-8 now....somehow they are in last place most likely tied with us for the worst record in the west if the outcome in the Dallas game doesn't change.

It will probably be one of the dumb coaching moves up there with Denver firing George Karl and replacing him with Brian Shaw.

Exactly why we should be careful about overrating Luke Walton as a potential Lakers head coach.

It isn't like he would be bringing Curry, Thompson, Green, Iggy, etc. with him.

But he would be bringing their offensive sets and defensive principles.
