It will probably be one of the dumb coaching moves up there with Denver firing George Karl and replacing him with Brian Shaw.

Exactly why we should be careful about overrating Luke Walton as a potential Lakers head coach.

It isn't like he would be bringing Curry, Thompson, Green, Iggy, etc. with him.

But he would be bringing their offensive sets and defensive principles.

Then why hasn't GEntry done the same thing in New Orleans??

1-9 now....
The selfish NBA fan in me wants them to win more so they don't hog one of the top positions in the NBA draft, they were a playoff team last year so giving them a high draft pick will instantly change their fortunes whether by trading that pick or having another talented player to pair along with Anthony Davis.

If they fire Gentry should we hire him to our staff as offensive assistant?

Defensive principles : Set by Mark Jackson
Offensive principles : perfected by Alvin Gentry
Guy that hired assistants that knew more than him: Steve Kerr

Gentry shines as an assistant more so than a coach. If he was an assistant to Monty it'd be a lot better.

They were one of the reasons why the Lakers weren't going to make the playoffs in the crowded west. That's why I always think it's silly when pundits and fans are so sure of which teams will make the playoffs. There will always be surprise risers and surprise drop-outs. Which is why I'm always hopeful for my Lakers. Unfortunately we haven't risen yet.

Gentry isn't the problem. Right now the supporting cast Davis has is by far the worst in the league. Take off Anthony Davis and they're worse than the 76ers.

They've also played the Warriors twice and the Hawks twice.

There's no Tyreke Evans. Jrue Holiday is on a hard minutes cap. They've ran Ish Smith, Tony Douglas, Nate Robinson, and Jimmer Fredette all at PG at some point or another. Asik has missed half their games.

In 2014-15

AD missed 14 games
Jrue Holiday missed 42 games
Ryan Anderson 21 games
Eric Gordon 21 games

They've been an oft injured team. I don't think this is just injuries, although it definitely plays a part. I think when you have a team built for a certain style, and a new coach comes in who doesn't fit that style and pushes a new style, it usually winds up falling really flat. It happens a lot in the NBA.

AD hurt his shoulder tonight, seen him playing through it since preseason..
Pels are screwed. hoepfully they're a couple wins better than us this year, still think they should be

If we had a competent coach, this would have been the perfect environment to at least attempt a run at the playoffs.

Completely agree.

Portland was a given to fall off. Houston and Pelicans are the big surprise. Dallas looks like they're also on fumes.

There was no way with our talent level and the lack of winning ready Randle/Russ are that this team was going to win 43-44 games, which is what's needed to sneak in the West.

But we should be better than what we are - that's for sure on Byron.

The Pelicans appear to have caught a bad case of the bird flu.

They are leading the Spurs so far tonight though.
