the Lakers need 10 wins to avoid the NBA record for futility.

I'm trying to be optimistic here, but it sure looks like it would be logical to just go ahead and tank so we could get in to the top 3 and keep our pick. But the team, with Byron at the helm, is border line sickening to watch. I'm starting to get the same vibe as last season and I realize that it starts with the coach, so he's got to go. Russell just needs to go ahead and play 30+ minutes.

You're rather high on Byron, huh? haha

The 10 wins is in play but I think they'll end up with more. They have streaky shooters so they'll win some fluke games and since they get so many free throws, they'll be able to hang close in a lot of games.

I don't know why people think this team is better than last year's. It's not.

It has potential to be better in the future. But this year? I don't think so.

The team has much better players, the coach however is still here and single handedly making the team worse than it really is.

We don't really have better players. We have different players with different strengths than the strengths of the players last season. This team would supposedly fit better with Byron, but Byron finds a way to bungle it anyways.

With that said, this team has more natural talent than last year's team. But talent will only really mean something if it's developed.

I had us at 28 wins. I am almost thinking that may be too high? More then 10 though.

no we still will owe it next year if not this year. And then we have to give a pick to Orlando after we give a pick to Philly

I am still at 32. With a team like this we could end up winning 10 of our last 20

Ya that looks too high, Tony. That's our absolute ceiling right now. Realistically the very best we'd end up with is probably like 26 wins after this start. But I think low 20s is most likely.

At this point I only hope we end up dead last in the league. Maximize chances for a top 3 pick. It would be nice to get to 20 though. The team has come tantalizingly close at times to winning.

They wouldn't even make the playoffs in the eastern conference.
That being said they would definitely win a lot more games if they actually had a coach with a clue.
The way this season going so far, we will probably lose even more games this year.

Well as of tonight we are tied for the 2nd worst record, so we are ahead of schedule.

BUMP

if the lakers lose the next game than they are on pace to win exactly 10 games. if they lose the next 2 they are pace to win 9 and if they lose the next 3 they will be on pace for the worst NBA record of all time

ALSO...the Lakers might set a franchise record of being first laker team ever to be DEAD LAST in the Western Conference.

we have never been dead last in league standings.

this is happening All under the JIMBO Buss era

Lakers might win 12 games tops. At least they have Philly trying to break their own record this year! So even if the Lakers get less than 10 wins, Philly will probably trump them with a 6-win season.

I think its safe to say the Lakers will be dead last in the WC at season's end.

who cares if we win 10 or 15 or 25 games.this season is about kobe's farewell and developing these young guys.that's all it is.so what if we have a league or franchise worst record, will that effect next season? yes.positively.it helps our chances to keep the pick.besides if any team is gonna break a futility record it's gonna be 76ers.
our record doesn't mean anything.let's just hope that byron will also be done along with kobe at the end of the season and FO hires a good coach and we finally have a great offseason in 2016.

I remember preseason everyone was predicting 30+ wins and it just seemed ridiculous to me.

Young players just don't win games no matter how talented they are. KD and Westbrook won like 20 games their first season, Wiggins + rubio won very little, Kyrie couldn't win any games for a long time.

Even if Russell and Randle start balling out and playing up to our highest expectations and Kobe take a step back, this is a 20 win team at most.

I don't think Byrons coaching ability has shown itself to be average.

We're underachieving in a very remarkable way
