The Los Angeles D-Fenders will become the South Bay Lakers at the conclusion of the 2016-17

Los Angeles D-Fenders To Be Rebranded as South Bay Lakers
| Quote: | After ten years, the Los Angeles D-Fenders will be rebranded as the South Bay Lakers after the 2016-17 season.
D-Fenders President/CEO Joey Buss made an announcement early Sunday that the Lakers’ D-League affiliated will be rebranded as the South Bay Lakers.
The D-Fenders have won three conference championships and have combined for 35 NBA Call-Ups including both former players and staff. |

Blue Drops 37 As D-Fenders Pull Away In Second Half
| Quote: | Vander Blue had 37 points and seven rebounds, and six of the team’s eight available players scored in double figures to lead the Los Angeles D-Fenders (21-6) past the Sioux Falls Skyforce (20-8) on Thursday at the Toyota Sports Center, 125-120. With the win, the D-Fenders defeated the Skyforce for the first time this season while locking up the league’s best record.
Blue’s point total led all scorers on the day. Justin Harper recorded 19 points, while Jeff Ayres (15 points, 14 rebounds) and David Nwaba (14 points, 13 rebounds) each recorded their third double-doubles of the season. Travis Wear also scored 15 points off the bench for the D-Fenders. |

| When is the last time the Lakers used ANYONE off their D-League team? that season in 2013? We had Blue, and host of players when we kept getting injured. We could use an injection of new energy! |

Vander Blue Named NBA D-League Performer of the Week
| Quote: | Los Angeles guard Vander Blue has been named the NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, Jan. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 29. It is the second weekly honor of the season for Blue and the third of his career.
Blue (6-5, 200) averaged 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 2.0 steals in two Los Angeles wins last week, propelling the D-Fenders (22-6) to the league’s best record. On Thursday, the former Marquette standout scored 37 points over the defending champion Sioux Falls Skyforce to lift LA to its seventh consecutive home win. He followed that performance with 28 points in a victory at Austin on Sunday. Overall for the week, Los Angeles outscored its opponents by an average of 20.5 points with Blue on the court. |
