I've always loved Caron, wish we could have kept him though he was part of the eventual Pau trade. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I've never really understood this logic. The Grizzlies were trading for cap space, not Kwame Brown. So theoretically, the Lakers could have had both Caron and Pau as long as they had other expiring contracts that equaled nine million or whatever Kwame was being paid.

Fisher
Kobe
Caron
Odom
Pau
Imagine if we had kept Caron and Marc...
Then maybe we can imagine not winning 2 champions...

To be fair, I imagined that we traded for Pau too.
It wasn't a Pau or Marc/Butler thing. It was a Pau/Marc/Butler or Pau thing. Unrealistic I know but that was what I meant with that post.
Nice piece. I grew up in South Florida, so I liked Caron's game before he was with us. And obviously, I enjoyed watching him with us. He was one of the bright spots of that 2004 season. I certainly didn't want to see him leave, but his departure helped us get Pau in the end, so I can't complain.
Hate to be that guy, though, but I did notice a few errors in the story. "Forward" should be "foreword" and Caron was the 10th pick of the 2002 draft, not the 19th.

Caron wasn't part of the Pau trade.
We traded Caron for Kwame in 2005.
Three years later, we traded Kwame for Pau.
I get that. My point was that the Grizzlies weren't trading for Kwame; they were trading for cap space. So this whole "Mitch turned Caron into Pau via Kwame" thing doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

??? We didn't have the cap space at the time to do that. In fact until recently we haven't had cap space in a while. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
