With the exception of Pau, the motivation for Laker in-season trades the past few years has been to cut salary, which doesn't seem a priority this season.

You are right . Disregard that post. I wouldn't trade Russell for him but, I would gladly trade Randle and JC for Okafor, but Philly wouldn't. We probably would be better off trying to get someone like Cousins or Love.

Which we will have no shot at either one.

Kelly maybe, the other two aren't likely to be traded.

I don't see any team that would want Kelly though. Not one. not even for picks.
The only way to get rid of him is to package him with Lou, Young or Bass.

Which the Lakers tried to do by packaging Young with Kelly thus making the Lou signing make sense.

I think you guys are right. I don't see any trades happening.
Not for lack of trying. We just won't get the value we want for our assets.

you bought gold at $1,800, didn't you? Buy high, sell low?

I have a feeling this thread is going to produce the worst "fan" trades in the history of bad fan trades. That one right there, probably should be marked for the history books...

edit: for historical records: this was his ORIGINAL idea:

"I really, really would hate to trade Russell. I think he is going to be a great nba basketball player. However, I am down to send him and Randle to Philly for Okafor"
-------------

I'm 100% for trading Clarkson. I just don't see him as a $22 million dollar player and that is what I think we will have to offer him to stay.

When we are 4- whatever by trade deadline I think guys like Lou/bass/nick will be moved to go full youth movement. I expect the way jc was used last year will be how young guys will be used this.

He's not getting 22m next year. lakers could go up to 21m for him but unlikely. The most I see from the Lakers is probably 15m ish. If another team makes an offer and we match the most he gets for 2 years is the mid level exception.

Yeah. I don't see 22 million as his value at all. He might get like an Avery Bradley / Iman Shumpert kind of deal. I see him at like 8 to 12 million.

You all do realize there's very specific limits on the amount of money Clarkson can make and be offered. Right? Jeeze. Best part is if someone tries to poison pill us it would actually be a favor with the cap leaping up. We're in the drivers seat with him and he wants to be a Laker.

15m next year is the equivalent of 11-12m today. Not an outlandish amount.

While it's theoretically possible for the Lakers to offer him a 4 year-$90 million deal, the most any other team can offer him is about $50-55 (roughly 5+5+20+20) million over those 4 years. He easily worth that so consider that before jumping to deal him.

Oh hell no, I wouldn't give Clarkson 1 penny over 8 mil/year. This guy brings nothing else to the table other than scoring on broken and iso plays. with his kind of athleticism and still being a poor defender tells me the guy only cares about scoring, individual stats than helping team win games

No one else can offer him that.

You won't get much with a couple of million in salary coming back. Better to wait until the offseason.
