Wha? Kobe loves playing D, just not against scrubs like Mason. What a dumb quote.

I think "don't like to play defense" is more accurate than "can't play defense". It is a mindset, and that mindset left during the month of January. For what reason, we all have our opinions. I am smart enough, and have been posting here long enough, to know that I should keep mine to myself.

Guys if you read carefully he's talking about Kobe's D, not the rest of the team's. He's clearly way off base.

yeah, the part that bugs me is the "don't like to play defense"...honestly, besides Kobe/Sasha/Bynum and maybe George, isn't this the truth?

Our D has taken a horrible nosedive since December, like our will to play D has been "sucked" out.

I'm still pissed off at Kwames contribution tonight...

It's a pretty generic statement, not a slight on Kobe.

If he is referring to Kobe as "those guys", then I think he needs to aim a little higher.

He was saying that offensive minded players don't like to play hard "D". People like T-Mac, Vince, AI, etc.

He was talking about Kobe and all the rest of the offensive minded ballers.

Personally I don't think it's true when it comes to Kobe. T-Mac, Vince, maybe.

over the last 5 games we are 1-4 and are giving up a whopping 104.4 points per game...2 of those were to injury depleated teams!!!

in our 4 defeats we've lost by an average of 15.25 points!!!!!!!!!!!

Brown is a little vague but its clear he's talking about Kobe.

My comments are in bold....
Quote:

Coach called my play a couple times and the guards got me the ball in some spots where I could work," Mason said. "I just wanted to put the heat on him." (Kobe)

Added Hornets center P.J. Brown: "I think that's key when you're going against an offensive juggernaut like Kobe Bryant. I think those guys (This is the confusing part, he mean's "guys" as in big scorers which of course on our team is Kobe) don't like to play 'D. You've got to put pressure on them on the other end. I thought that's what he (Mason) did early, and it meant a lot.

"It got Kobe to concentrate a little more on the defensive end than he wanted to. He (Mason) got us off to a good start. It just seemed like everything seemed to keep going after that."

well I think his comment is a little vague because he says Kobe (singular) then says "those guys" without relating it directly back to Kobe or other high scorers...you may well be right, however, read my prior post about how awful the Lakers D has been recently.

That you, P.J.? If not, nothing personal, but I will interpret what he says myself, without the Kobe bias.

His comments actually make sense if applied to the team as a whole instead of just Kobe, however that was not his intention.

Hey if you want to twist the meaning to suit your own beliefs that's fine, just don't claim that's what he meant unless your ready to vigerously defend your position.

hehe, I guess that's the point I was trying to make...thanks for summing it up for me

I really wouldnt mind losing these games if we were actually playing defense, it just gets unwatchable when you see scrub teams getting layup and dunk after dunk...maybe Turiaf is the light at the end of the tunnel??

agreed, but then again, he nailed my feelings about our team even if he was talking about Kobe...

Unless he is traded to the Lakers, then he can spout off all he wants.
