I have no problem with any of these. |
I wouldn't ranked Robinson that high because the second half of his career took such dive after his injury. I probably would put him about 5 or 6 slots back. |
Yes. I'd consider swapping Barkley and Dirk, but that's quibbling. |
You guys are ok with Dirk over KG? |

His peak value was pretty high, though. But for the injury, he would have been a top 10 candidate. I respect what you're saying, but I probably would have ranked him at 20 +/- two spots. |

OVER/UNDER PREDICTIONS
Will ESPN's panel rank Kobe over or under 10.5? In other words, will he be 1-10, or 11-15?
Based on who is left, I am taking the under. I think ESPN will rank him #10. |

I get that. At his peak he was amazing. I find him a bit of a stretch at 20, but I don't think it's ridiculous |

That's a tough one. I expected him 9-12, so it could go wither way. But I'll say 10 as well. |

Unfortunately, this thing is done by Lebron's PR department, so I expect every kind of excuse to rank him a lot higher than he deserve... |

I say Kobe will be rank 11-15, if I'm not mistaken that's where most of the ESPN writers have him ranked. But you can bet Lebron will be rank higher than Kobe. And for even more controversy they'll have Lebron over Magic and Bird. I know they have Bird as their 2nd best small forward of all time behind him. |

There was a discussion among four ESPN folks who ranked him from 6th to 15th. Typically, I see Kobe 8-10 on top 10 lists. Hard to imagine him dipping any lower than 12.
And I expect Lebron will be ranked ahead of him. He's already beaten Bird. Doubt he'll top Magic, but we'll see. |

I think a lot of Kobe fans would rather have him come in at 11 than 10 -- if he's not going to be ranked near the very top, they'd rather have him outside the top 10 in order to more easily express rage at the outcome. |

Lebron pushes people's buttons, but his credentials are certainly up there with the other contenders: 4 MVP awards, 2 finals MVPs, 2 rings, fifth highest scoring average in NBA history, on track to easily be top 10 in all-time points and assists.
Most people use the stats/awards/rings criteria, and he's certainly up there with the other GOAT guys on that scale. |

Larry Coon and an army of media professionals who either: (a) manage to earn a living analyzing the game; or (b) have developed a reputation for understanding the game at a very high level vs. a gaggle of entitled, delusional crybabies who lash out on Twitter because their personal fave isn't revered by the rest of the universe, whilst simultaneously (and hysterically?) blaming every perceived slight on a media grudge that doesn't even exist AND persistently attacking every other athlete who threatens their sacred cow ... oh, that's a tough one. I guess I'll go with the former.

I haven't noticed anybody mentioning here or elsewhere the fact that five of the Top 21 on this list never played a minute of college basketball (KG, Dirk, Moses Malone, Kobe, and LeBron [assuming he's in the Top 10]). Suck it, Emmert ... |

We know how the centers are ordered:
Kareem
Wilt
Russell
Shaq
Hakeem
And we know James is ahead of Bird |

I sure wonder if ESPN will rank Lebron in the top 5? Shaq and Hakeem will be in the top 6-10 range, possibly Duncan also. Since Bird is usually ranked around 6 on most all time lists, I say Lebron will be ranked in the top 5, since they have Lebron over Bird. |

Just opinions like everyone else. That top 12 is tough. Two guys are gonna be left out. Mine would have been Big O and probably James. Career still active enough to bumrush top ten though. |

I haven't looked at the thread in the Lounge yet, but I'm sure ESPN is getting trashed. I don't know about Oscar over Kobe. I think Oscar is overrated because some people are infatuated with the triple double season and don't understand the effect of game pace. |

I'd agree that LeBron is in the conversation for greatest all-time small forward. I'd rank him higher than Pippen, Baylor, Erving. Bird ? Boy, for me that's pretty close. Call Bird and LeBron two of the top ten greatest ever - sure. _________________ “These GOAT discussions are fun distractions while sitting around waiting for the pizza to be served.”

Lebron is 2-6 and 2-4 with Finals with Wade and Bosh in their prime in the Finals he's not in my top 10. |
