If you had the power to bring back one artist from the dead who would it be.

Mine would be Kurt Cobain

You couldn't bring him back because his brain was destroyed by a shotgun blast. Zombies 101. Also, it was a self-inflicted shotgun blast so if he wanted to be alive today, he would be. You'd be bringing him back against his wishes.

Tough decision. Lennon, Harrison, Janis, Elvis, and Marvin are all contenders.

Not a bad choice, but if one can only choose one, not my first.

Of musicians who died too young, I would have loved to see what Jimi Hendrix would do with a guitar as he aged and evolved.

Of musicians who died at an advanced age, but still too early, I would think that George Harrison had a lot left to do.

And from the recent crop, given David Bowie's work over the years, I'd not only bring him back from the dead, I'd give him immortality.

Kurt is a good one. Underrated I think because of the generation he helped spawn, but he was an extremely talented musician and song writer. I can't remember if it was his sister or his mother that gave him a bunch of Beatles records that he later said "changed my life". I think the evolution of his music would still hold up today if he was still alive.

Fun fact. Kurt was left handed. He played a left handed guitar strung right.

BTW, I think this is a good thread. Props OP.

I have ultimately decided on Marvin Gaye. I think he had a lot of music left in him and would have sounded good for several more decades. Janis Joplin was a close second.

Definitely John Lennon. Just because of the way he went out. He certainly deserved better. What's ironic is he had cleaned himself up and, by the time of his passing, was as much of a peace activist as he was a musician. Some of the other musicians that have passed, as much as I loved them, fell prey to their own demons. Not that I feel they deserved it, but you can't live your life at 100 mph 24/7.
