Maurice White, the founder and leader of Earth, Wind & Fire, has died.

White died at home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, said his brother, Verdine White. He was 74.

A former session drummer, White founded Earth, Wind & Fire in the late 1960s. The group went on to sell more than 90 million albums worldwide, displaying a flashy and eclectic musical style that incorporated his influences from growing up in Memphis, Tenn., and working at the influential Chicago music labels Chess and Okeh.

The band's many hits included "September," ''Shining Star," a cover of the Beatles' "Got to Get You into My Life" and "Boogie Wonderland." Earth, Wind & Fire won six Grammys and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

Oh man, not another great artist taken! Why God, why? Why couldn't you take Justin Bieber instead?

EWF was like no other R&B band and there will never be another like them.

RIP Maurice White.

Man, what a year 2016 has been.

Maurice White was really something special. You Can't Hide Love was just disgusting as far as a soulful R&B vocal performances go. Due to his illness, EWF has been touring without him for years and Philip Bailey, one of the greatest vocalists ever, can't hold down the lines that only Maurice could silky smoothly deliver. That's how nice he was.

RIP, Mo.

Maybe I've gone soft, but "After the Love has gone" is my favorite of theirs...Also love their other songs. Maurice White was obviously the lead of that band, and had the most memorable parts of their songs.
