The Knicks have fired Derek Fisher, sources told ESPN.

So, so much for that. That was quick.

Man, I hope the Knicks do not grab Luke Walton right now. If so, time to fire Byron's butt and get Luke before Phil does.

Despite the Knicks record, this is very shocking. Must be more going on behind the scenes that we don't know.

This is pretty shocking to me. Knicks were much better this year.

Hopefully, they don't pounce on Luke now.

Phil knows what's up. He knows that winning takes precedence over loyalty. Too bad we won't do the same for Byron.

Oohh tough break for Fish. I thought the Knicks were exceeding expectations then I saw they've lost 9 of their last 10 games.

I'm surprised Phil made this move.

If you're Luke, what situation do you prefer, Knicks or Lakers (assuming Byron gets fired.)

I would say the Lakers is better. Young nucleus, 60+ million in cap room this summer.

Damn, Phil is COLD BLOODED.

I can't believe Luke would go to that crap storm...then again, I'm hoping he comes here.

I feel like Luke will be smart enough to wait for an opportunity with a good team. Teams will be lining up, no need to rush.

I'm very curious to find out the reason(s) for this, considering the turmoil he was involved in as head of the player's association.

AND Melo's knee is not doing well. Possible long-term issues.

Didn't Phil hire Fisher?

I say right now, you better lock down Luke if you're the Lakers and are interested in him. Screw Scott.

Phil has always, always understood the long game. He knows winning is a marathon, not a sprint. So no, he's not making a knee-jerk reaction to a losing streak by a team with a mediocre roster.

There's definitely something else going on here.

yep, need to pounce on Luke right now. but i'm afraid NYK job is more appealing to Luke at this point.

ESPN is saying Luke and Brian Shaw are top long-term replacements.

Rambis will be interim coach for now.

.

Why would he go to the Knicks? We have a young core. The Knicks have an aging star making max money.

Lakers have 60+ million in cap room and possibly a top three pick this summer.

Why would Luke go there is also a fair question.

Melo with a no trade clause, ballooning deal with gimpy knees.

Krispy, I'll give you that. But what else is there on the Knicks? maybe a shot at a max player, but only if a few things work out (like Afflalo/DWill not exercising player options, etc.).

All very true. Still, NY can and probably will be a 30 win team. That's improvement from last year. Something else is going on...

Luke isn't leaving GS mid-season. Nobody needs to worry about that. Also, nothing about NY is that attractive outside of Porzingis so if it's LA vs NY in the summer, I think west coast/beach volley ball/former Laker Luke has an easy choice.

He's been on the hot seat for a while. I forgot which writer's podcast was talking about it but I think it was over a month ago. I guess they were just waiting for a losing streak.
