Marty never should have gotten blame for that loss (2007 against New England is a slightly different story). First, it's not really a terrible idea to turn around and hand it off to a guy who is one of the GOAT at his position when you need a few yards. Second, it's as dangerous as it is to trust a kicker in the rain, it's also dangerous to throw the ball too. Especially with a young QB that really wasn't Drew Brees yet. That was his 2nd year as a starter and he was god awful the year before. 04-05 was his breakout, but IMO it's still hard to trust him there. Third, I really think you need to trust your kicker to make a 40 yarder. Kaeding was a notorious playoff choker, but that wasn't known at the time.
In this game, I think you have to trust Matt Bryant to make a 40 yard FG in an indoor stadium. At worst you run the ball 3 times and get nowhere, but take 2 minutes off the clock. That was a time when going conservative was the right call IMO. |

Piss poor coaching, just like in the Seattle/NE Superbowl.
Pats are great, but they have benefited from piss poor coaching decisions from the other team.
Shanahan blew it. Just like that stupid Seattle OC did a few years back.
And Matt Ryan is overrated, and I've always said that.
He blew a 17-0 NFC title game lead to the 9ers, and now this. Is he a good QB, sure. Does he deserve the name "Matty Ice"? absolutely not. Doesn't he have a losing playoff record, and now has blown 2 of the biggest playoff leads of all time?
In terms of the Pats, it's a lot like the Cavs situation. No competition in their division. Dolphins are improved, but they don't hold a candle to NE.
NE will always have at worst, a home playoff game in the first round every year. And the Steelers are an undisciplined team with an average defense. Maybe if the Broncos get a real QB, they have a chance vs NE. Chiefs are a solid team, but that's it. Alex Smith isn't going to get it done, and their defense is opportunistic. They aren't a shut down, get after the QB type defense. You need that vs Brady.
Brady has a chance to get 2-3 more rings before he hangs them up. If the Packers get a running game and improve their D, then Rodgers is the only guy who can out duel Brady in a big game.
I hope the next team who faces them in the superbowl, actually has an offensive coordinator who isn't an idiot.
As a Cowboy fan, much props to the GOAT Brady. _________________ Dominating every day. |

Plus, that FG would have ended it. It's not like we're talking about Atlanta being up, say, 3 points. And a FG puts them up 6, and then NE can come back and win it.
They were up 8, and a FG ends the game. Like you said, in great conditions for a great kicker.
Stupid, Stupid coaching. Almost as bad as that stupid Seattle OC calling for not just a pass, but a slant pass into traffic. That's the fact that people didn't talk about much in that Seattle/NE superbowl. You have an itch to pass on 2nd down? Stupid, but fine. Then lob it up in the corner of the end zone. A play like that RARELY gets picked. Typically it's a TD, or the CB knocks the ball down, or the ball goes out of bounds. You don't throw an inside slant in a bunch formation, where all the defenders are lined up and playing the WR tight.
But you gotta give the Pats credit. I think coaches psych themselves out or something in superbowls vs the Pats. They just make bone head decisions. _________________ Dominating every day. |

Almost as bad as the Atlanta sports stores rolling out then rolling back all the Falcons Championship gear.

They ALWAYS make merchandise for both teams so that they can immediately make it available after the Super Bowl and take advantage of everyone's excitement. The manufacturers/merchandisers calculate that into the price of doing business. They also donate the losing team merchandise to help cloth people in under-developed nations and take a tax break on it. No one is really "losing" money on making the Falcons gear. It's part of the process. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Are you kidding? I would have bought the damn newspapers in a fraction of a second. Right now there's one copy selling for $350, and another for $480 on ebay! It's just like those (probably ersatz) copies of Newsweek that proclaimed Hillary the winner.
I tried to buy some Red Sox World Series Champions tee-shirts back in 1986, but they sold out in minutes. It was both a collectable and a biting gag gift. |

Isaiah Thomas says Tom Brady texted him after the Super Bowl and said, "It's your turn next."
How do you Laker/Patriots fans feel about this quote of Brady giving support to the team you despise? Not that I think the Celtics have a chance this year and it would be a very slight chance.
You have to remember the dynasty New England Patriots are as Boston as any of the other teams including the Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins even Revolution.
Rooting for both the Lakers and Patriots it just sounds so wrong. The same goes for the Yankees/Patriots fans I've come across in other forums. It doesn't make any sense.
It's funny that Brady is like our Kobe Bryant. Kobe is a HOF player, a legend who will be always be compared to the greatest player in the history of the NBA in Michael Jordan. Brady has similar comparisons to his childhood idol Joe Montana though I think he has surpassed Montana with this latest Superbowl win. _________________ "Larry, you only told me one lie. I'm a long time Laker fan. I don't root for any Boston entities. I root against the Celtics. I won't say hate. IMO that's a little harsh. I pulled (call that rooting if you will) for the Pats to win for purely selfish reasons, stick it to Goodell. . I didn't like the way he handled deflategate.
Yeah, the Pats did some shady things in their past. No more than other teams. The difference is, they got caught. There was no clear indisputable evidence Brady personally had something to do with the under inflated balls. Did he know, maybe? Did they make a real difference? The second half would say no.
My hope is the Lakers return to prominence before the Celtics. Right now we're behind.

They can win the east in overall wins, that doesn't mean they can beat the Cavs in a 7 game series.

I don't think they can.
Dubs got a great pickup, JaVale McGee.
I have the Cavs coming out of the East. Of course the Dubs are my favorite to win the West. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The Celtics, Hawks and any other "Eastern Contender" will lose in 5 games, or if they get lucky, 6 games vs the Cavs.
Easy one to call there. The real competition is out West between GSW and SA _________________ Dominating every day. |
