Cautiously optimistic. That team still hasn't found a way to score a touchdown and their QB situation is in flux. |

Well it's pretty clear that Belicheks system is more important to success than the players that have been in the system. Belichick is showing he can win without cheating. I'll bet this is pissing some people off. He's giving Brock fits. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Nah...I usually miss the intent. This is one of the few times it didn't fly over my head.

Quote: | Today is the 15-year anniversary of Mo Lewis' hit on Drew Bledsoe, which changed things for the Patriots and the NFL. Former Jets CB Ray Mickens was standing only a few yards from the violent collision that opened the door for Tom Brady. Asked yesterday how that one play impacted history, Mickens said, "If you want to go there, why not ask, 'How'd we let Belichick get out of New York?'" |

Belichick is like playing a chess grandmaster. You feel good about your game, you sit down with the grandmaster and then get murdered in the middle game. After you realize your position is hopeless, you offer to resign. He grimaces, and then turning the chess board around, he beats you with what were once your own pieces. |

O'Brien is a good coach, and the Texans are solid on defense. Both teams played ultra-conservative football, with Osweiler averaging a meager 4.8 yards/attempt and Brissett at 5.4. The Patriots did a good job covering their two best receiving options, which pretty much destroyed Osweiler's ability to get Houston back into the game.
A few thoughts:
Yeah, as lakersken80 pointed out, the Houston OL was dominated at the LOS. The New England personnel at DT are guys that tend not to apply quick pressure the QB, but rather work to control, shutting down the running game. Decent pressure came from the edges.
There was remarkable improvement in the NE OL. The TEs really helped out. One sack on a missed stunt.
The New England defense finally played 4 quarters. They made Tannehill look like Kurt Warner, as he ripped apart the NE secondary last week, and they lost their mojo late in the AZ game. I was a bit concerned, particularly with the poor play of the DEs (with the exception of Chris Long). Sheard finally broke through with his good game, and that was absolutely key.
Special teams and turnovers proved decisive.
The NE special teams did a great job, with one exception which I'll cover later. No punt returns for Houston. Zero. Recovered 2 fumbles. Left Houston in poor field position all night.
OK, the exception: Cyrus Jones, the second round draft choice. Awful. One fumble (recovered by a teammate) and one near fumble. They sat his ass in the fourth quarter.
Brissett couldn't score deep in the red zone. Not really his fault, he's inexperienced even by rookie standards. Edelman dropped a TD pass, and he was a second late throwing another potential TD pass to Bennett, which was nearly picked off as the window closed.
The last quarterback to win his first career start on a midseason Thursday was Drew Henson for the Cowboys in 2004.
Add Bill Belichick: "I can't even tell you how excited I was about the uniforms last night. Incredible." |

Oh (bleep):
Quote: | The Patriots had wide receiver Julian Edelman as their backup quarterback last night. He might have to start next week.
According to Mike Petraglia of WEEI.com, Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett suffered a torn thumb ligament in the second half of last night’s win over the Texans, and may need surgery to stabilize the injury. |

Yikes. I feel bad for the kid.
However, I believe the "evil" genius will make it work somehow. |

Brissett only sprained his thumb. However, I got really excited for a min there since I have Edelman |

More like the Broncos defense I see why he was benched for the corpse of Peyton Manning last January
Kubiak finds another way to stick it to the Texans. |

Titans could've tied it if it wasn't for that unnecessary late hit. |
