Clarkson has improved his 3-point FG % from .314 last season to .364 (coming into today) this season, and that includes shooting .458 from 3-point range in February. He still needs a lot of work defensively, but to those who think he hasn't improved offensively, I believe he has, even if his true shooting % is down just a little from last season.

Well, he would go out on top ala Peyton Manning. Sort of.

Today was the day that 10 years from now, we will look back and say that this was the beginning of the Lakers next great dynasty. When we are hanging banner #21, we can look back at March 6, 2016, the day when the Lakers beat the Warriors 112-95 when it all started

What if this causes Warriors to finish second in the West this year?

Then we'd be playing the role of the Miami Dolphins, whose win over the Pats in week 17 dropped them to 2nd in the AFC.

And we all know what happened after that.

In fact, I don't know. I don't watch American football

I don't follow that league closely either. But sounds like Patriots finished their season poorly, costing them their championship and a trip to the Super Bowl. This Warriors/Spurs race will be dynamic and fun to follow. It's not over by any means. GS will need to pay attention to the only graphical comparison that counts: the '16 Spurs, not '96 Bulls.

A few more thoughts - I'm going to go to work tomorrow, and I'm going to mention this game, and the first thing I'm going to hear is:

'you guise just got lucky 'cause Curry was cold.'

And I'll call bull on that (bleep). It looked to me like the Lakers actually had a game plan on defense for once. Including pressure on the 3 and disrupting routes and passing lanes. This looks like a halfways decent team that's been tanking and decided to tip their hand just once to show the talent they actually have. Two more players and two years more experience, and this team just might kick ass night in and night out.

Great games:

Julius Randle - another double double and aggressive out there. Hubie Brown gave him credit for setting the tone early.

Nick Young - played hard out there on both ends and got hot just as the Warriors were making their push to get back in this game.

Brandon Bass - Stellar defense and some interior toughness.

Larry Nance Jr. - Another second round steal just like Clarkson. Hustles like crazy out there, and he's learning how to channel that hustle against NBA competition. 2 steals and another disruptive force on defense. Nice slam to put an exclamation point on this game - and yes Nance is part of our young core!

Kobe - far more effective than the stat line indicates, great movement and intelligent play. Also a pretty good coach according to DLO!

And then the newbie NBA guards:

Jordan Clarkson - Lights out from 3, particularly in the 3rd quarter - wow. I saw a few micues on defense but I saw him hold his own on team defense. We defended the three and he was fighting and scrapping hard out there. I was afraid he was going to get a tech once or twice but that just shows how hard he was going at it this game.

D'AngeRuss - Steals, team defense, great orchestration and oh yeah 21 points to go with Clarkson's 25. Super efficient and he hit all his free throws this time!! Number 2 pick in the draft and he plays like a number 1 pick.

Marcelo Bilbo Huertas - Night and day difference when you put him on a motion offense! 9 assists off the bench and he showed why he was a highly regarded player in international ball. He had the Warriors off balance with his assists, and when he sensed this he went in for the kill, straight down the middle, layup after layup daring them to adjust again. He might usually be a defensive sieve but not today. It looked like he could just smell a big win on national TV out there, he was scrapping for everything he had to disrupt the Warriors.

Russell/Clarkson/Huertas - all 96 guard minutes, half the team's scoring. 56 points, 14 assists, 7 steals and according to Hubie Brown they were a big factor in GS having problems scoring from 3 today.

Yeah baby!

Once Nick got going you knew it was over. He's our X factor.

Defensively this was a well coached game and they came out with the right strategy on both ends, as well as the correct offense.

Can't even complain about the substitutions.

disliked Scott all year, but this was his best coached game of the season, and our players responded.

Makes me upset we didn't go to this "set" sooner, but I have to give credit where it's due, good job by both Scott and the Lakers tonight.

Alot of it has to do with Lou and Kobe basically not playing. This has opened the team up.

As much as old school coaches hate to admit it, offense also feeds defense. When players touch the ball on offense and feel good, then they tend to exert more energy on defense.

Nevertheless, the schemes and coaching for this one game were good; but the problem with Byron is that he concentrates on games and tends to care less about the overall bigger picture.

Hell of a win. Best game of the season by far.

I'd like to apologize to Huertas for trashing on him. He's brought it over the last week.

It actually looks like Huertas is a competent backup PG with this new motion offense. Small sample size, though. And still a massive liability on defense. Then again, so is Lou, and he's certainly a competent NBA player, even if some don't like his style.

Huertas is a good third string PG, and may have some value in short sporadic stints. He has great vision and some nice trick shots.

However, he is horrible on D, and if he does get regular minutes; teams can game plan against him very easily.

JC has improved a great deal. He also is learning how and when to be aggressive, when to facilitate, and when to take the spot up 3. His 3 is very streaky though, and he still is not perfect. But he has definitely improved.

His Defense does need work, but in fairness he guards the team's best perimeter player every game.
