Translated through babelfish...

French AP Reporter wrote:
NBA: with the happiness of Turiaf

AP | 06.02.06 | 12:08

Los Angeles (AP) -- It is a beautiful history like the sport, even professional, can sometimes generate them. Six months after an open-heart operation due to malformation to the aorta, Ronny Turiaf, 22 years, saw its daydream.

The French is (re)devenu Laker. Extremely contract of two years and half (for an amount of 1,3 million euros) signed with the Californian leaders, it can evolve/move under the shirt of the famous frankness which, last summer, had drafté the pivot inhabitant of Martinique in good place.
After a so long stop, the French player, "still at court of condition", estimates that it will need "a few weeks before finding a level sufficient for the NBA". But its happiness is whole.

AP: One imagines your pride to be finally a player NBA after having failed to know the worst...

Ronny Turiaf: "What a ventures! I have just finished some with a terrible test which began on July 26 last year (note: go back to its operation). Per moments, I doubted much and, today still, I have sometimes evil to be located. However, I am there, with Lakers, at the sides of some of the best players of the League, of which Kobe Bryant. One should play the play-off for my first season NBA, which happiness!"

AP: How to explain the speed of your re-establishment?

R.T.: "There are several factors. First of all, my problem was not as serious as the doctors of Los Angeles wanted to say it initially. It acted of a hypertrophy of the aorta. Then, I was constant much. By my family, of course, by Lakers which regulated the totality of the expenses (100.000 euros) and also my old university of Gonzaga which accomodated me during rehabilitation. Lastly, I never lost the faith ".

AP: Your effective arrival in NBA has been just delayed by administrative problems, namely a work permit. How do you manage this new waiting?

R.T.: "I first of all was to play in minor league CBA, with Yakima Sun Kings to find feelings, time of play, the rate/rhythm of the competition. That made me good, it was necessary even if I am a full member of Lakers. Kobe (Bryant) made me well besides include/understand it by offering to me a pair of its new line of shoes as of the first drive. It was a then question which I join the team of Forth Worth, in Texas, a frankness from the NBDA associated in Los Angeles. But the coach Phil Jackson did not find that very useful. Therefore, I involved myself and I travelled with Lakers. My papers are now in rule. I should begin Tuesday (in Dallas) or the following day against Minnesota ". AP

HehHeh... ya' gotta love that babelfish...!

although this probably belongs in: the random facts about kobe bryant thread,

Kobe Bryant once cured Ronny Turiaf's heart by giving him a "thumbs up" gesture.

I can see how software would have a problem with this. The gist is:

"The Frenchman has (re)become a Laker."

Well, he's from Martinique, technically a "Frenchman" due to jurisdiction, linguistic, and cultural influence, but he is no more French than a native of St. Marteen is "Dutch."
