How about Tim Grgurich in a Tex Winters role for Walton? Was just let go by Milwaukee and was apparently something of a Coach's coach out there for Kidd.

Brad Stevens has said 100% of his offensive plays come from other teams. He focuses on figuring out which ones and when to run them and how to teach guys to run them.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he’s been impressed with Luke Walton and how he has LAL’s players going: “He’s really engaged in those guys and they’re really engaged in him.”

Obviously he's just saying nice things cuz they're both coaches. Luke has lost the locker room!

I wouldn't read too much in brad's comments. It's cliche.

The amount of (bleep) that goes on in the game thread during a WIN against the best team in the East is embarrassing. Yeah, Luke has clearly lost the team and is doing everything wrong considering they've won 7 of their last 9.

Don't blame the players who are the actually, you know, the ones missing the damn free throws...

Why Luke called for KCP to take the last free throws despite sitting on the bench the entire 4th quarter:

Quote:
@taniaganguli

KCP is the Lakers' best free throw shooter.

Yea.
BI should have shot them right?
Give me a break.
Either way, whoever missed them, we would be pissed.

Case in point what? You want your best free throw shooters on the floor in that situation, stop blaming the coach for bad FT shooting, it’s embarrassing.

BI actually has made 2 clutch free throws not too long ago.

Luke calling KCP’s number at the end was horrible. James Worthy even said “why put him back in the game? He’s cold.”

JC was probably the best choice, he’s tied with KCP for Laker’s FT best at 76% plus he’s warmed up and just made 2 FTs a few possessions prior.

I mean, we nearly gave the game away on 2-3 straight possessions when we had the ball out of bounds.

Do you guys think the Lakers staff doesn’t know how bad we are on OB plays?

Because he just saw Hart miss 2 FTs. For a bunch of Captain Hindsights on a message board, it's easy to second guess decisions after they've played themselves out. Not so easy in the heat of a game. Statistically, he went with his best guy. Not sure how you can bash on that, but it seems that's become the trend for some posters here no matter what Luke does or how the team performs. Everything good happens in spite of him and everything bad happens because of him, right? That's how it works?

Clarkson was probably the best choice.

How much does being cold affect muscle memory?
Don't most coaches bring in their best ft shooters for that situation?
Like Sasha?

I'm actually surprised people are questioning the move.

Bringing KCP is fine, but calling for the play to be KCP isn’t.

JC should’ve taken the FTs. He just made 2 FTs the possession prior to Hart and he’s shooting the same percentage 76% as KCP.

Don’t blame Luke for getting KCP in there...

But those out of bounds plays were awful. Like 2 straight half court heaves. Terrible.

Just another reason why we shouldn’t want lebron. Can’t have him here trying to call his shots when we’re on the rise and he’s on the downslope. 5 years ago, sure, call your shots. But the playing field in the nba has evened out greatly talent wise, he’s just one of many talented players, all of them trending upward and into their prime except him.

I agree with that.
JC should have ran to the back court.

Yeah, you’re correct. It’s a super common and expected move that happens on a nightly basis around the nba. In instances like that you always bring in your best free throw shooters. People who are calling that out are just being blind haters

Well he missed both free throws, so I guess being cold did affect his muscle memory
