Luke was rightfully pissed at the refs. They were horrible last night. |

Brad Stevens was 25-57 his first season in Boston. 40-42 his 2nd. |

This is Luke's 2nd year, unless your point is he is no Brad Stevens.... Brad Stevens is way better as a coach than Luke. Luke isn't good as a coach right now. |

He had a bit more to work with including Rondo (8/11/6), IT (19/5/2), Jeff Green (17.6/4.3), along with role players Jae Crowder, Jared Sullinger, Evan Turner, Marcus Smart, Brandon Bass, Kelly Olynyk, Tayshaun Prince, and Tyler Zeller. Luke has a bunch of young talent which has yet to peak. He had also already been coaching for a decade as an assistant and a college head coach. |

And btw, if over ten years Luke’s teams are an average of ninth in defense, that will even further make the point. |
9th in defensive rankings doesn't mean much since it doesn't show how good defense they are playing "now". When you look back at the season and say, they lost XX games, then yeah it makes sense to point at that stat.
It appears the Lakers are regressing on defense, what's causing these lapses it's hard to tell, but it's like the entire team just stops trying. Whether its fatigue, coaching, injuries, new players, it could be a combination of all these things. I just know when the Lakers are playing bad defense, it is REALLY BAD - it looks like they've entirely forgotten how to play basketball.
It's either a sign of a poorly coached team or a very inexperienced one (or both).
And PS, that vaunted 9th defensive efficiency ratings is now 13th after crashing and burning another game. |

Lol at Brad Stevens comparisons. Brad is five times the coach Luke ever will be.
Brad Stevens coaching this team would be playoff contenders, and not lose to teams like the Mavs, Pelicans without Cousins, Kings, Memphis, etc while giving up back-to-back 130+games. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

And don't forget Chicago's coach and Brooklyn's coach are also better.
And they have better records than the Lakers.
Oh and fizdale. His team is rocking too! |

Stevens is out in a weak east, had Horford, and now has Kyrie.
His 1st season he went 25-57.. 2nd season 40-42... still, in a weak East.
Lukes has been going through a development stage since he got here... without a boarderline all star PF, and without a 1x champ PG in the West.
Not a fair comparison, but Brad does have a overall better coaching and training staff, something Magic has said we will look to improve this year. |

I'm not a Luke supporter but I thought he finally had the team figured out until the trade happened. He has to start over now and it might take him a while to figure it out again. |

Something about Luke that has bothered me since last season is he seems to be a reactionary coach. That is he reacts to what other coaches are doing instead of being proactive and trying to create advantages for us. For instance I think there have been plenty of occasions where going big to counter a small line up could have worked well but he seems so intent on playing mostly small that he's reluctant to do it. We had 4 decent bigs coming into this season and his instinct was to figure out ways to bench them even when it meant we had no offensive advantage and we were getting killed in the paint. I hope he starts to realize we can gain an advantage by playing a center from time to time. We don't always have to end games with height deficient line ups. |

in case anybody thought Luke wasn't involved in the trade with Cleveland, this is from Larry Nance:
----
http://hoopshype.com/2018/02/16/larry-nance-jr-on-being-traded-by-lakers-joining-his-hometown-cavs-playing-with-lebron-and-more/
Like everyone else, I was following Woj (Adrian Wojnarowski) and had the tweet notifications set up just in case and just to find out what kind of stuff was happening. I had just woke up and I was going to wash my face, when I got the update that the Cavs and Lakers were in serious trade talks. I thought, “Oh? I don’t know who that could involve, but we’ll see.” Not even 30 seconds later, I got a call from [Lakers general manager] Rob Pelinka and Luke Walton and Magic Johnson were in his office with him. They all broke the news to me and told me that I was going to Cleveland. That’s how it happened. |

They should have switched it up. |

Towns had 20 boards though. JR is too small to keep him off the boards and also fouled out trying to guard him. Meanwhile Gibson got career highs on Lopez who was too slow to guard him. |

Randle defended Kat extremely well. Lopez getting blown out by Gibson was embarrassing. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

I'd rather have Lopez on Towns to match size. Gibson is a little quicker than Towns |
