Good stuff Luke.

The bench unit was rolling and he rode with it in the fourth.

When the bench came in, LAL was down 6...they drove that to a 4pt lead that they then held onto for almost 4 minutes.
Luke rode that because they'd got the lead, and held it - smart coaching, since they were on a roll

When they finally let that drop down to only 2, Luke swapped some starters in - which was also the smart thing to do and the smart time to do it
Agreed. He was coaching tonight.

It was also a good message to send to the 2nd unit (and the 1st, for that matter) - "you got us the lead, if you can hold it, you're staying in even though it's late in a game we have a chance to win"
pretty significant vote of confidence

1) He made the adjustment of not playing Lou and Clarkson together in the second unit. That line-up gave up too much size and it killed them defensively in the preseason games.

2) Lou played 14 minutes.

MWP stole some of his minutes. I'm okay with that happening every game.

Keep it that way Luke.

That has never been the case at any point in Lou's career. I don't think it will change anytime soon.

14 minutes, 12 points, 2 assists and 3 steals. Some nice defense tonight.

Lou was +17 today on the court, and while he got burned on defense at times, the entire team did. His defense was honestly solid.

I complain about Lou at times too, but it's ridiculous to suggest he wasn't extremely important in helping the team win.

I don't respect that opinion.

I respect his opinion of lou as a player. I just don't agree with it. He balled tonight.

Damn good game by Lou!!

He gave us his usual offense but tonight he actually contributed on defense.

Luke did a great job of managing this game.

Uhh...no not really.

But 14 minutes is the sweet spot for him. Good enough for him to get his points while he doesn't overstay his welcome.

If he's consistently just 15 minutes or less, that's a win.

Too much showboating by our young guys tonight. Hopefully Luke talks to them about it, they've gotta be more business like in their approach to the game. The Spurs killed the Warriors by 30 last night, yet they still went about it the right way.

I feel like it had more to do with the rotations than anything. Pairing him with Ingram, Nance and Black helped the unit as a whole defensively and they didn't make the same mistakes as the first unit, although we saw Ennis, Gordon take it straight to Lou every single time down the court. He gives up so much size on the court that it's worth limiting his minutes the way Luke did tonight. Ingram was a +10 by the way.

This is the first relevant NBA game any of them have ever played. Let them have their night.

True but they are very young and playing a fun game. I'll let it pass for now.

With the Spurs that probably has more to do with the personalities of their players. I don't have a problem with players celebrating because the NFL is showing us how garbage it is when they have to dial it down.

Lou was by far the best +/-, and he had 12 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals in 14 minutes (efficient shooting as well).

Rotations helped. Not being on the court much when Harden was helped. Nevertheless, Lou had an effective game today. It wouldn't kill you to admit that, even if it doesn't change your overall opinion of his game.

I think Lou's help defense was solid, but his man defense was terrible. Really, for me, I'm iffy on Lou... but for me to be okay with playing him, you can't have Black and him on the floor at the same time. You need Nance, Zubac or Mozgov behind Lou because without a shotblocker, there is just too easy of a path to the rim for the player he is defending.

Other than that, while not as big of a problem in this game, is that he's really streaky. There were games last year where he couldn't miss, and then games where he would only miss while doing nothing else to help the team. I'd rather just give his minutes to Clarkson, Young and even Ingram at the 2. However, I would agree that for this last game at least, he as a net positive, but just barely. HIs +/- really has everything to do with not being on the floor with Harden.
