At what point does the front office and coaches just accept that certain guys will always be bad defenders?
The only player out of the young core whose defensive improvement really matters is Randle. PG defense in the spread PnR NBA is a luxury, and Russell looks to be such a good offensive player that it more than counteracts his defense (which likely won't be Lillard or Rose bad, at least). Nance and especially Ingram look like career plus defenders with Ingram potentially being an upper-echelon defender at his position. Zubac is TBD.
So only Randle's defensive improvement matters going forward. I'd take those odds.
I think the team can get close to 20th if they stay healthy in this next stretch of games. The defense went into free fall during that Thanksgiving stretch against the Warriors with injuries piling up. We'll have a better idea of what the defense is around late December or January. Lakers' defense wasn't this bad prior to those Warriors games _________________ Austin Reaves

Whatever happened to running through walls for Luke? Not one, but multiple players have said that. I think the kids didn't know that the saying refers to brick walls, not dry-wall.

it's about the schemes too. I can't pretend to know enough about this stuff but when your defense is this abysmal and worst in the league, some of it has to be on the coaching staff. I didn't notice a single adjustment that worked tonight. We're basically taking nothing away from opponents, so it's no surprise that we're always up against their best. As a consequence we're facing cocky, in-rhythm teams night in night out, and everyone and their mother has a career high against us. Kobe probably would have scored 101 against us, because we'd switch Lou Williams onto him or some (bleep).

the way i see it lou and clarksen have to sit on the bench in clutch situations. it was to easy for jennings and rose. we talkin' about brandon jennings fam
We can't win games with the defensive scheme he's running. The opponents stars and role players are having great games against this defense. We are too athletic to be running soft hedges every play.
Looks like the team is abandoning the offence more and more each game. They have regressed since the start if the season. Luke needs to check these youngins.

The offense looked a ton better last night. _________________ Austin Reaves

During the injuries it was Lou Will ball and it was ugly. With a healthy squad before DLO and Young were out, LA was 9th in offensive rating _________________ Austin Reaves

We didn't really win any games when Lou was going off. It's part of the reason why I think we should sell high with him. He's a good six man on a winning team, but when he's the focal point of the offense, you're going to struggle.

Thats what I mean. We have to get back to THAT type of play. Besides the injuries, I see the team playing too much iso which is hurting more than helping, players getting stuck in one place too long and not moving without the ball.. & CAN JRANDLE DRIVE AND GO HARD TO THE RIM INSTEAD OF TRYING TO DISH IT OUT WITHOUT ACTUALLY HAVING A TARGET IN MIND. ?!?? He runs, gets in the air and once he realizes hes not gonna get a good shot up, he tries to kick it out while in mid air which usually results in a turnover. He has to play way more under control. Thats on Luke and his staff to figure out how.
Can someone give me some context to the ejection last night?
What play caused this?

Here ya go (also bonus for the commentary lol)
Tbh I really don't think Luke needed to go all in on the refs tonight because LA was actually playing really well to start. He went off the handle on purpose to get fight out of his team... but it inspired the Kings instead
I like to think a move like this pays off in future games though. _________________ Austin Reaves

I love Luke. STRAIGHT OG!
I think it was spillover from their battle in the game last month. Julius got a bunch of good shots on him and was doing a lot of trash talking. There was a play earlier in the game where Cousins scored on Julius and stared him down, I think the scuffle happened shortly after that.

In terms of the inevitable P&Ming. I think it'll resemble MDAs tenure.
Beautiful offense, hideous defense.
Media and mad fans will complain Luke isn't pushing the young guys hard enough. The narrative will be some B.S. About how Luke and his staff are too laid back.
I was wrong about the bolded. I think the media and fans have been fair to Luke. Alot more positivity than I expected. And Luke has deserved that.
The other stuff I said. I think I nailed on the head. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
