Wouldn't blame that dumpster fire on Hoiberg.
There are instances where you look at a roster and then you look at a coach unable to bring out the best in them despite the styles being able to fit together.
Such as Luke here with what he's "supposed" to preach.
But when it comes to Hoiberg it has everything to do with the fact that the offense he coaches and worked on for years is never given any kind of roster to take advantage of it.
Like I said
"Here's a coach whose offense is predicated around ball movement and perimeter shots.. what starting back court should we give it... WADE AND RONDO!!! And Butler at the 3!! Can't go wrong there!"
YET despite all that, Hoiberg was thoroughly outcoaching Brad Stevens in the playoffs last year and had Rondo not gotten hurt the Celtics may have been knocked out in the first round.
That's the kind of stuff you pay attention to.

A hype man picked Ingram as something special so now Ingram feels special without having proven a darn thing and being the least productive of our entire young core. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Me too because the Lakers seemed to be running really no sets, the best players are not playing, etc... It's like he said play fast and that's it. The biggest mistake Luke made was trying to emulate warriors offense. |

Which offense should they emulate? |

I don't know if a specific offense needs to be communicated here on the board. The point is one needs to be implemented by Luke.. It's helter skelter out there. |

Build his own. He could take from different offenses, but build his own. Right now, I don't even see an offense implemented. |

How about we try to implement a successful offense, like some of what the warriors run? |

Luke needs someone to handle the X's and O's and the offense, and another person to handle the defense.
Both must be very competent and allow Luke to just do the 'Coach' part and make what they're in charge of work.
Luke is going nowhere with his current staff. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Yea. Who helps the offense currently? And who handles the defense?
So we need an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. Maybe a quarter back coach, a linebacker coach and wide receiver coach. |

Their offense is pretty standard. It's the lack of shooting (and shot creators) that makes it look especially bad. |

I'm tired of Luke's wonky line-ups. That was my biggest gripe with him last season. All I wanted to see last year was Randle, Nance, Ingram, Clarkson, & DLO. The group would have been special. I think I only saw that group on the court together for a total of 6 minutes near the end of the season. Why? Because he rather play LouWill and Swag El in crunch time.
The other thing that bothers me is the fact that we have zero identity on offense. Yes there's been a lot of garbage players the past two seasons. Yes, he got Swaggy a gig with the Warriors. But a good coach should play to the strengths of his players right? Pop came out and took the blame for Aldridge. Now LA is playing better because Pop said he would cater to his strengths. And even if our team is lacking serious talent, there still should be fundamental ball movement. It's like we have no clue out there. I was watching a game last weak where the Boston scrubs had beautiful ball movement. Stevens is quite the genius. Pop can make scrubs share the ball, get them big contracts on other teams (while disappearing into obscurity), and reloading with system players. |

What I would give to have Mike D'Antoni as coach the past two seasons. |

He would bench all of the perimeter guys who can't shoot, the franchise would turn against him when it becomes apparent that he's going to miss the playoffs, the local media would crap on him, and then he'd be gone. |

I think Luke is a great coach. I would love to play for a coach like him. He just doesn't have enough talent on the team. I mean Popovich would have struggled to win with this team too. But he would give better interviews I admit that |

Houston with Harden there is one thing, we don't have that star power here. Luke is far from the problem and MDA is far from the solution. With the group of players we have the fans would go through coaches like a baby through diapers.
Rebuilding takes years, we have a bunch of rookies and some veterans that
will give us something some nights.
We need to get a grip and realize this is a journey. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |
