Here's something to think about
Pick and Roll Ball Handler Defensive %ile
Julius Randle: 86th %ile
Kyle Kuzma: 29th %ile
Larry Nance Jr: 7th %ile _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

I’m not sure they would actually. If they are looking at the right analytics, it wouldn’t matter too much who they play.
The analytics should, if done right, account for that. |

So, is Nance’s man defense overrated?
Anyone but MJ please respond.
My man (MJ) is Mr. Consistency. We all know his angle.
Respect to you dude. |

How about reading into a 23 game sample in which our record is much better with Kuzma starting than Nance starting? |
we were 5-6 with Kuzma starting...but that included a very soft part of our schedule. We lost to Phoenix and Sacramento with Kuzma starting. We also have some very poor offensive games with Kuzma starting...scoring 100 or less in 4 of them. |

I'm going to lose my mind if I don't soon have the pleasure of reading another "Hey Luke" post from MJST. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

Hey MJST! Have you replaced Luke in 2K18 yet? 😂
And if so, have you replaced him with a fan made version of Messina? |

If you want the honest truth... I did lol
I went into NBA2K and did a Lakers rebuild.
Which pretty much entailed that I fired Luke, made Ettore Messina (which looked just like him) changed our offense to the Spurs playbook.
Ran a lineup of
Lonzo Ball
Kyle Kuzma
Brandon Ingram
Julius Randle
Brook Lopez
With
Jordan Clarkson
Josh Hart
Luol Deng
Larry Nance Jr.
Ivica Zubac
With the bench.
Ran it throughout the season and we actually wound up winning 47 games and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs before losing in 6 close games.
Was fun to do.. should probably make a youtube video about it, or do it again and make a youtube video lol.
What I will say though is that Kuzma in the Danny Green role is money and Ingram in the Kawhi Leonard role is also money. Randle and Lopez also worked very well at the 4 and 5 in the Spurs offense, and Lonzo's stats looked similar to how they're looking this year but he shot a better percentage and we won more games. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Ah I thought we'd hit this little snag where someone attempted this crap with the 'oh the narrative fitting'.
So I had this waiting
Cranjis McBasketball

No player has defended more mismatched iso possessions than Julius Randle (31 possessions), and those opponents are scoring 0.677 PPP against him
From GT:
This is how many points better/worse the Lakers are per 100 possessions when certain guys are on the court vs when they aren't. (min. 200 minutes)
Randle = +7.5
Hart = +5.5
JC = +2.3
Lopez = +1.4
KCP = +0.2
Kuz = -1.8
Brewer = -2.2
Lonzo = -3.0
Ingram = -7.1
Nance = -7.5
Now please kindly recede back from when-st you came ^_^ _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

not sure what your point is...we have known that bench unit with Randle and Clarkson has been more productive offensively this year...but they only play about 20 MPG. |

Serious question: how did u create randle a mix of LeBron +Malone+ Barkley + Steph curry's shooting |
No lol In 2K17 I did once give LeBron Steph Curry's shot and wanted to see how his stats changed
But in the Lakers rebuild I don't adjust anything really. I just play it through. I think the only thing I've ever edited and it was in an unreleased rebuild was changing one players tendency to shoot threes to match what they did in real life cause 2K hadn't gotten around to that _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Since when did Plus/Minus stop being a joke? Seriously, I remember people laughing at this stat in the 90's. If it was RPM which accounts for the quality of the opposing players on the floor I could buy it. |

RPM has as many holes in it as any other "new" "all encompassing" metric |

No, it certainly has fewer holes. But it still has holes, for sure. |

Personally I like +/-
I don't use it to show that player A is better than player B.
I like using it to see how lineups do. |

I replace Luke faster in 2K18 than I did Byron TBH
At least 2K understands, Luke has pretty (bleep) ratings. |

It's also interesting how that suddenly stout defensive stretch when Larry was out was mostly against Eastern conference teams. |
Aside from effort-related regression, anyone could look at our 3FG% against on open shots and conclude that a regression was in short order. |

Yeah that's a good usage of +/-
Though it does suffer from the problem of opponent quality. |
