I'd like an actual defensive assistant and knowledgeable assistant with experience that would be able to help Luke in situations he's unfamiliar with.
We need an experienced and proven assistant coach and an extremely solid defensive assistant. |
Why not? Pacers coaches and players raved about him when he was an assistant there. And obviously he was an assistant here during the rebuild post Shaq and for the 2 peat. Not sure why Shaw isn't considered proven? What makes someone proven? |

He will have like 4-5 assistants right?
I don't see why Shaw couldn't be ONE of them. _________________ 24 |

Luke chooses the Lakers, then a free agent like derozan choose the Lakers...
Sends a good message to the league |

The game has evolved even since he was an assistant with the Pacers(bye Hibbert).. and his next gig he ran the triangle..
I want an assistant who's coaching right now, bump him to an associate head coach label and pay him da bucks. |

Someone that's proven as a head coach. As in someone that can offset Luke's inexperience and help him in those aspects. Shaw could be good at player development like he was with Paul George but he's not the guy that's gonna make up for Luke's inexperience with. We need an assistant coach that CAN do that. As an assistant that works with our younger players though like Shaw did in Indiana I'd be fine with. But not as the 2nd voice in Luke's ear. |

why would we go after a 30 year old Westbrook after 2 additional seasons of wear and tear on his body? His game being primarily based around his athleticism, it wouldn't be a smart move to max him then. |

If the Knicks don't hire him, I wonder if he doesn't just become Kerr's assistant head coach. _________________ 24 |

how about:
Nate Bjorkgren, Bakersfield Jam head coach
Ime Udoka, San Antonio Spurs assistant coach
Adrian Griffin, assistant coach, Orlando Magic
Brian Shaw, former Denver Nuggets head coach
Juwan Howard, assistant coach, Miami Heat
Sam Cassell, assistant coach, Los Angeles Clippers
Sean Miller would be awesome but he wouldn't leave Arizona to be an assistant. _________________ 24 |

Unlike Byron, Luke will probably surround himself with guys that can challenge him. |

Please no. I want a good staff. It's vital for Luke.
DFish would be a massive disappointment. |
DFish got screwed by PJax. He's a standup dude and a solid leader. I'd bring him in. Just as long as we get someone who'll specialize on the D. |
Billy Hunter still haven't removed the big knife in his back. The various teams that released him so he can be close to his daughters pretty much didn't have anything nice to say about him after. The entire Knicks' roster have their wives on 24/7 watch.
Basically, base on the stuff I read about his role in the players union, how he got out of his contracts on bad teams, how he asked for family time off only to fly to LA and be with Barnes wife, etc. One can argue he's not a stand up dude. The word sneaky comes to mind. I was a big fan of Fish being a coach after his playing days, but not anymore. |
