My first thread, let's make it fun and hope of having some relieve for this atrocious season.

I'm really in favor of axing him during exit interviews but maybe give it a few days to avoid detracting from all the positive press Kobe will be receiving.

I have a feeling if he's not gone within 10 days of the end of the season, he'll be coming back next season.

I think a week after the exit interviews is the right time frame.

at a respectable distance from the end of the season. and it'll be a "mutual parting" or maybe a "resignation", although the latter isn't good press for our basketball ops so I doubt that.

Sooner the better. Start talking to the top coaching candidates out there. The longer you wait...ouch.

It will be after exit interviews, hopefully not long afterwards though. The Lakers need to secure a coaching staff early on before other teams beat them to the punch. They took way too long last time around, which is partially why they wound up with leftovers to choose from and picked Scott. An early choice allows for some earlier direction to the younger players as well with regards to what to work on this summer.

I think 5 days is about right.

If he's back next year, I will give up on a team I've been watching since 1962.

Can't they just announce that Byron is also "retiring" too tonight?

As the reports stated and as I also believe, Lakers management is torn on this one. I'm sure as bad as Byron has been, he was also following some strict marching orders the past two years. Unless they are getting Luke, I just don't see them firing him. Luke works because both the current front office and the Phil rumored front office would like Luke on board. I could also see them waiting on someone like Durant and his input as head coach. If that was the case it could be months before we know. I want him gone, but I don't think it's as certain as we like it to be.

Great first thread! Thanks. Is there a way for you to add as a choice, " See what coach KD wants!"

I don't think he'll be fired but if he is it should be ten minutes after season's end.

No. Byron was a Jim and Mitch hire. Jeanie and Scott have no relationship.
