I think Byron keeps his job.

To make it easy on everyone, Byron steps down, and he gets another position with the Lakers.

Can't they just announce that Byron is also "retiring" too tonight?

That would be a good move for everybody and a few in the FO should follow suit.

The sooner the better, we gotta find our next candidate for the coaching position. Can't wait around for all the good ones to be taken from under our noses.

Lots of coaching positions open. The more we screw around with canning him the quicker the better names will be taken off the board.

They will wait, and all the good candidates will be off the table, and then they'll be like, "well, we can't hire anyone better than Byron..., so we'll give him one more year...he deserves more time with these kids anyway"

If the are going to fire Byron then they are already talking to potential head coaches. Maybe they finally get George Karl.

Gets it.

And I fear it will be a month or two. Although they could be talking to people behind the scenes

Yeah. Starting to hear rumors already. Nets are being proactive apparently seeking Udoka, Messina, and possibly Blatt, and even JVG.

Hopefully we've started making the calls as unless the target is an assistant on a team, there's really no rules against making inquiries now.

Forward-thinking of them.

That just means more retreads for us to interview!

I have heard Blatt to NY too, though I don't know how that would work out.

Yeah, I don't see that either, though apparently Blatt has ties with someone in the FO.
