He just said it on the air 710 ESPN radio! Not kidding!
He also mentioned there's an "outstanding chance" Byron will be coaching Lakers in October.
Update with the Podcast 40 min: http://m.espn.go.com/general/play?id=15211922
Quote: | Ireland: "I've been told Dwight Howard has expressed interest in coming back to the Lakers and it is not mutual. The Lakers have been tight lipped but I heard this from the Agent's side."

If so there's an 'outstanding chance' that I stop watching the team by January. |

i would take him back if we can't get any of Horford, whiteside. He still only 30 and plays great defense when motivated. Can still give you 15 and 10. |

I mean...for the right price sure. Wouldn't be the worst guy in the world to pair with DLo. But I thought he was looking for a max contract? In that case hell no. |

Shaq was giving us 27 and 13 when he wasn't motivated. And you'd be cool with 15 and 10...at max $$$ btw??? _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

I would take him back depending on how much he wants. It would need to be a team friendly deal. Around 12ish. He can still give you at least 12/12 with great defense.

I'd do it for $8M/yr for 3 years and with the condition that he accepts to not be "the guy"
otherwise, bye. |

Can't put him on same level as shaq, not fair... Dwight is modern day Alonzo Mourning, with bigger shoulders |

I heard the same thing on the radio, it was right before their Fast Track segment.
Something about there is interest in Dwight Howard about returning to the Lakers and that the feelings are mutual. Ireland said this source didn't come from the Lakers but... something about Dwight Howard's agent or his camp? _________________ Endgame

I'll say it again - if all he wanted to do was have fun and be happy and be a Johnny Appleseed, he should've just stayed in Orlando. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

For the veteran's minimum only. And he must apologize on his hands and knees to Kobe for not wanting to take the torch. And he must apologize to Shaq for Shaq being right about him. And he must come off the bench in support of Tarik Black. Then, maybe then, we would have him back. Oh, and he has to take the clown mask. Anything else? lol. |

Nah if we're gonna resign dwight..we need to put shooters around him the way he was in Orlando. Let him go to work when he's single covered. Having guys like Dlo and Ingram would be a good start. |

Dwight doesn't even want to be the roll guy. We've seen this when he was here and constantly complained about not getting enough post touches, and right now in Houston. It's not a good fit at all, despite his capability to be an elite roller. |

No thanks. His career relies on athleticism and that's only going to fade from here on out. |
