So sad, he was only 52. He had a brain tumor and surgery last year wasn't successful. Man, lots of former NBA players dying in their 50's lately. He was a Syracuse great who got his nickname from comparisons to Earl The Pearl Monroe. Drafted 13th but his NBA career only lasted 3-4 seasons. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

There was talent to spare on those 1980s teams at Syracuse. Seikaly, Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas, Pearl, Addison and many others who killed it in the real Big East, but couldn't make something of themselves in the Association. Unfortunately, Pearl landed in the swamps of East Rutherford, where his career burned out like so many others. Anyway, it's a sad day ...

Sad. I remember him. Put 'Cuse on the map and then flamed out in the pros. Isn't he D-Fish's older brother? _________________ We back. |
